'sides me? Everywhere I go I always get that. I think they just don't like my face or something...
And it's always a 'person of color' that gives me rude customer service. In other words it is always a white person.

In a retail setting....not really. If I feel I've been wronged in a situation, I ask the clerk for a resolve. I ask very calmly because going off on a tirade isn't going to get it done any quicker. If the situation can't be resolved, the clerk will let me know why. With the exception of....maybe once or twice, it is explained to me why it can't be resolved. And, the reason is very logical to me. I let it go after that.
A co-worker of mine asked me to sign his timesheet because he is a 'temp' employee. That is, he is not employed by the company, but with a temp agency. I had to give my opinion as to how he worked. I had to check a box of one of the following comments:
Exceptional Satisfactory Poor
(or something like that)
Of course, I marked the 'exceptional' box. As I was doing it, I said I'm gonna mark him as 'poor'. We had a good laugh about that. I then said it would take a LOT for me to mark 'poor' or even 'satisfactory'.

Putting aside all the racial parts the OP alludes to, I think lately both customers and customer service reps are more likely to carry chips on their shoulders lately. Not sure why.
Kill them with kindness seems to usually work no matter what side of the transaction I've been on. I think people are running around with their shields up, and once they see no threat, they at least back down a little.

Politeness and a pride in one's work knows no colour, sexual, religious or moral boundaries. Good and bad in all jobs. Only thing I would say is that if you pay rubbish wages then it is harder to expect people to go the extra mile.
