Making a $100 million dollar movie set during the Armenian genocide was their first problem. No one cares unless Bale was back in Batman mode.

Reportedly, the Armenian-American producer of the film (Kerkorian) has stated that he didn't really care if the movie tanked or not (although he'd obviously prefer it to succeed)... He was mainly concerned, he said, with simply getting it made as a political/cultural statement.
