Yep. They used blue screen environments instead.... Does blue screen "work" better? Because there's a distinct difference in the look between Episode I and II and III. It's extremely obvious.
There's a lack of realness in the other 2. It's similar to the Transformers series in that they got worse/less realistic looking as the series went on. I know you like AOTC a lot, and that's perfectly fine, but you have to admit something looks off about those latter two movies.
Yes and no. Blue screen can have a clearer, crisper, sharper image. And it works great in darker environments. Especially space stuff. But green screen makes it easier for lighting. It also makes digital processing easier. Which means you can cram more content into a scene. The drawback is that in green screen, it’s easier to get the grainy, fake CGI look. But when doing brightly lit scenes (or very busy ones) in blue screen, it requires more post production lighting work. More craftsmanship and additional cost. Unfortunately many special effects people feel that the trade off is worth it. And green screen is used more often today. And I guess that explains your keen observation in the difference in quality between episode 1 and episodes 2 and 3.
