Suppose you were in charge at Lucasfilm (Kennedy), who would you have picked to direct and write the sequel trilogy? You can pick anyone who was active during the release of the ST.
Here’s mine: Whole trilogy written by Guillermo Del Toro Episode VII directed by George Miller Episode VIII directed by Denis Villeneuve Episode IX directed by Guillermo Del Toro
Yours?

The only one in your list that kinda makes sense is George Miller.

Lucas writing treatments with someone else (maybe the respective directors) writing the dialogue for the entire trilogy. One cohesive story and narrative for all three movies.
Brad Bird directs Ep. VII James Mangold directs Ep. VIII Matt Reeves directs Ep. IX

I even like the tonal progression of these choices (Brad Bird being on the lighter side, Mangold on the darker, and Reeves in the middle). They also have a lot of special effects experience!

John Favreau is the only director since 1983 to prove he is worthy of directing Star Wars. He should have been in charge of the sequel trilogy.
