I know, I’ve been missing out. They didn’t really interest me at the time but I’ll make up for it later this year perhaps. Just not sure about 007, hehe. Watch the 007 films.

I saw about 20 minutes of the first Transformers movie years ago on TV and at that point closed the book on that franchise.
I was going to add The Fast and the Furious, but then I remembered that I did see the one set in Japan.

The first one is probably the best one to try on if you aren't really a strong fan of horror and gore. The first one is fairly tame. The sequels get very messy....and i personally don't really love the series all that much until it gets to like the 5th one.

I could have never watched any OO7 movies and not felt like I was missing anything, but based on what I have seen of your taste you will probably like the Lethal Weapon franchise, The M:I franchise and at least a handful of the James Bond movies.

The puzzle just gets needlessly convoluted and repetitive. The original is worth watching and that is the only one that is worth watching imo.

I’m usually in the minority in regards to the Saw franchise. I actually kinda disliked the first one a lot initially. Preferred the second but the series lost me completely at 3. I picked it back up years later and loved Matt Hoffman’s character arc a ton.

He does have a good arc from what I remember, but he is stuck in a repetitive convoluted story. I mean all the stuff with Jigsaw and his games just is so been there done that by the 4th movie. The first 3 are just entertaining silliness, but when it starts taking itself more seriously it becomes very dull and after you have seen 10 torture devises and similar set ups in 3 movies already, I lose interest very fast. Same thing goes for the Friday the 13th franchise. Jason stalks and kills teens. After the 4th movie it just becomes really boring. Not to mention they all have the same ugly visual look to them.

I would say animated movies in general (Toy Story is about the only exception for me off the top of my head(I viewed the 1st/3rd movies)). but I tend to see those types of movies as largely kids movies as I don't really see the appeal of those with adults as movies with actual people in them tend to be far more interesting. but with that stuff aside... -Harry Potter (I never been a fan of that whole magic/fantasy stuff) etc ...and somewhat Star Wars series as I might have seen a bit or piece of those as a kid around 1990 or something like that but I never really sat down and tried to legitimately watch them until I attempted to watch Star Wars (1977) in July 2015 and could not finish it due to boredom and dumped it @ 1hr. so at that point I never bothered with the rest of the series. jamesbamesyDamn! ; it seems like a large portion of guys would have at least seen some of those movies as I tend to suspect they got wider appeal among us males. p.s. no offense or anything. bravomailerDamn, seriously? those movies seem to have near universal appeal from what I can tell. like even if they are not someones favorites, it seems one would have at least seen say the first movie at some point or another especially if the person is not really young and thought they where at least good-ish.

I guess straightforward action movies weren’t my thing but I do like a good chunk of them (Die Hard and Rambo for instance).

Any Disney/Pixar/etc CGI animated films outside of Frozen (the first one). Madea (never even knew that was a 'mega' franchise) Saw (not big on modern horror)

Harry Potter . Just has never really interested me BUT I did see that Alonzo Cuaron directed one of the sequels (and I love most of his films that I've seen) so I may have to check that one out at least.

Most horror franchises of the last 20 years Twilight Somebody mentioned Divergent, I'd argue that was a failed franchise and doesn't qualify as a 'mega franchise' I've seen the entire Harry Potter catalog and haven't liked any of them (my wife is a big fan, if you're wondering why I kept watching them)
Plenty of franchises I've seen one entry and that was enough (Fast & Furious, Transformers, Hunger Games, for example)
