Since he now has a comeback critically with Peanut Butter Falcon and seems to have his personal life in order. Also it wouldn’t make much sense for Indy’a Biological son to just vanish

I'm one of the few who not only didn't mind him in Crystal Skull, but actually thought he did a fine job. But given the bad joo-joo he put out there with Spielberg and Ford, I seriously doubt either of them would be eager to work with him again.

There are only three Indiana Jones films, though.

There shouldn't be an Indy 5. Hell, there shouldn't have even been an Indy 4.

No. Most likely they’ll replace him with a different actor to play the other lead. Pick a Chris, any Chris. Pratt, Evans, Pine, Hemsworth, one of those guys.

If they dialed back the CGI monkey shenanigans I might be on board. I didn't mind portions of the movie, in fact I even liked the chase sequence through the university, the tomb sequence and the journey to the alien lair, but so much of the film was a mess. The casting was all off in my opinion too, Shia wasn't the worst casting choice believe me. Cate Blanchett was totally unconvincing and Ray Winstone and John Hurt were horribly miscast.

I myself would much rather see Indiana Jones go on a Solo Adventure this time although I think Harrison Ford is too old now for his character to actually do something like that.
Heck, If they actually made a 5th Movie then at this point, it would have to take place in the 1970's.

a better question - Should Indy be brought back in Indy 5?

I think he actually could. He's not a man child anymore, & he wouldn't need a ton of screen time. Sure, do it.

No, but they will probably give him a mention as they hand over the series to his SISTER Indiana Jane cuz "Da future is female. DERP!"

He should be brought back and given two lines of dialogue while lines he could have also said can be given to Dom Monaghan. That's good storytelling, right?

The main stuff I don't like about Indy 4 is the excessive and obvious green screen and the monkey scene.
Everything else about it is a blast, including the nuke the fridge scene. Pun intended.

LOL, I would actually be okay with that (depending on the actress though).

If the press/paps are to be believed...he's mean't to be, or has been a bit of a troubled white elephant with issues..... ....but everyone deserves a second chance.
But if he hasn't grown and learned to mix....i guess an expensive happy ship is not going to want him on board for the greater good.
I liked Crystal Skull, some indy is better for me than no Indy...and would love to see an Indy 5.

There are a lot of factors to consider: Did the makers intend for MUTT to be in the 5th one when the script of the 4th one was written? Did they change their minds? If so, was it because of fan backlash? Or because of Shia's personal image? Or did they hear/read that he was difficult to work with? Do they think he's not difficult anymore just because he has worked in great indies? Does he even want to be in a blockbuster again? After all, smaller movies allowed him to showcase his talent more. Also, being a critically aclaimed actor doesn't automatically mean they're profitable, and the makers will probably focus on that more. it wouldn’t make much sense for Indy’a Biological son to just vanish They can write him out but still acknowledge his existence, like they did with INDY's father.
