You watching Scandi noir Wisting on BBC4? Pretty decent imo. I downloaded the last 6 episodes yesterday as I'm too impatient to wait another 3 weeks to finish it. I've never watched Ray Donovan.

I've seen glimpses of Wisting. It's on my watch list. After Oggy's comments about picking up the conclusion of Mr. Robot, I'm on that at the moment, and then I intend to bingewatch Wisting. Ray Donovan is the definitive "Have gun/baseball bat/knuckleduster-will travel" guy...with a heart and some brains. Addictive

I think episode 7 is one of the best episodes of anything I've seen on TV. A perfect hour of television. My folks love them some Ray Donovan. I haven't watched an episode but I like everyone involved. I will eventually get around to watching it but probably wait until it is complete. On season 4 of The Expanse atm.

I just watched Season 1 Episode 1 of this show today.
Does it get better?
I'm not liking his Dad - Jon Voights character - it's too forced for me and reminds me a bit of Dennis Leary's Dad in the hit show Rescue Me - i.e. they're making his character too over the top and it's striking out with me.
I'm going to give it 3 episodes just like Stranger Things before I give up on it - I think 3 episodes is a fair shot - hopefully they kill off this character in the next ep.
Here we go - starting it right now
I'll keep you all posted on my review.

Episode 6 will take some beating/ I know NYC well and I ran every yard with Elliot. I'm knackered
Watched a season and a bit of The Expanse then got distracted by other shows. It's still on my watchlist

Also - Donovan's agent/lawyer/what have you is also too forced - it's like they're trying for a forced Ari Gold (spelling?) from HBO's Entourage
I'm 10 minutes into Episode II

Just started watching Ray Donovon, I'm on ep 10, season 1. So far, it's just enough interest go keep going but it could go either way, for me. I'll watch season 2 and see how it goes.

Can you spoil it for me and let me know if Ray's dad Jon Voight gets killed off? I watched the first 2 episodes and can't see going back if I have to sit through his character much longer.

Ray's dad, Mick is hanging on, just about, at the moment but it seems obvious that "the end is nigh" for Mick. In the early days, it was Ray's wife who put me off

I can't tell you how much I agree with you 100% that I went to the IMDB and looked to see how many episodes he is in. Sadly, they're in the 7th season and he's in every episode. Also the wife is so badly miscast, I'm at the point where I just fast forward when she's on. I can tell you she didn't make it through all the episodes.

It was terrific about New York firefighters after 9/11. Anyway - the introduction of his Dad ruined it for a lot of viewers. He was a 'cartoon character' so to speak - just too over the top - I watched Jon Voight dancing with the stripper topless and I got the same exact feeling watching this - his character was too cartoon like and they were going for some comedy which failed and made you feel awkward - his presence isn't necessary IMO or Ray's boxing family - but what do I know - I only saw 2 episodes - wish it just concentrated on Ray being a 'Fixer'.

IMO, Rescue Me was probably the best show with the absolute biggest drop off in quality in the latter seasons ever, even worse than Dexter. The first few seasons were really great, then when the daughter became an "alcoholic" it was literally as if they were making it up as they went along. I honestly can't believe they were written episodes they were so awful.

And like you stated - it just fell off a cliff and got ridiculous - I don't recall watching the final season and have no clue how it ended.

It's possibly I may not have watched the last season either, it was so terrible. I just remember watching some of those episodes just being astonished at how bad they were and how the quality dropped off and the folks in the group on the IMDB when you could discuss shows there all agreed. I can't remember what teh reason wsa, some writers dropped out or something, I honestly think there was some improvising in those episodes and most of those people were bad at it.

I've liked the addition of Kerry Condon to the cast this year.

This show is STILL on? I thought it was terrible from the first season.
Wait, it’s a Showtime series right? I guess that explains it.
