Machete was awesome, Machete Kills was just annoying though. Rodriguez is hit or miss. For me it's the other way round. Machete would be a lot more fun if they'd left out the whole border politics. With Machete Kills he goes full retard and it's glorious.

Tarantino is just a better director and writer. Plus, he doesn’t waste his time on junk like Shark boy and Lava girl.

Yes, Death Proof was Quentin’s movie for the under 10 crowd. It is probably his weakest film in an otherwise stellar career. I think Robert’s best movie is the first Sin City.

He is not a very good writer or director imo. Alita: Battle Angel for example (one of his better rated movies) could have been a good movie using similar material, but I think it is a poorly made movie. The interaction between Waltz and Salazar is good and her character arc is good, but the rest is generic cliche crap and the cgi is completely unconvincing. Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn and the El Mariachi trilogy are the closest he has come to Tarantino and those movies, with the possible exception of Sin City, pale in comparison.I remember the criticisms about Planet Terror compared to Death Proof when Grindhouse was released. Death Proof actually resembles the movies it is imitating, Planet Terror does not. He did a good job with Machete in that regard though, but he is just mimicking 1970's exploitation movies, Tarantino takes material from those movies and combines them to make much better movies. The dialogue, cinematography, clever scripts and acting is what puts him ahead of the rest. Um, excuse me? From Dusk Till Dawn had Salma Hayek as a gyrating Dominatrix. For that alone, it should have won all the Oscars in history.
