The best possible outcome would merely be mediocrity without insulting the original.
Why do these fcuking ideas keep getting greenlit... only to have everyone cry about cinema dying.

Well, if it does actually happen, then maybe they can follow the book more. In the novel, Hooper has an affair with Mrs Brody, Quint is a lot more dour and mean than Robert Shaw portrayed him, and another major character becomes shark food.
Have the remake follow that path, perhaps?

Have the remake follow that path, perhaps? I was thinking that too. Plus the mayor’s motivation in the book was because he has mob ties who want the beaches open. It all sounds like a soap that’s occasionally interrupted by a shark attack.

I HATE and LOATHE film REHASHES and RETREADS! HOWEVER, I would like there to be one of Capricorn One (1977).

The best possible outcome would merely be mediocrity without insulting the original. Why do these fcuking ideas keep getting greenlit... only to have everyone cry about cinema dying. Because the movie business is not run by people who watch or care about film or audiences. They are hedge fund managers etc. The head office only cares that the socio-political message they want to convey gets out.
It's like people in Russia bitching about how lame Mosfilm was.
Oh yeah, Solaris, what a crowd pleaser...
Diversify the ownership and voila--quality improves.
