Can we please stop giving We Got This Covered validation? That website is a cesspool of BS “rumors”.

If the Roy Scheider character isn’t black or Hispanic, the Richard Dreyfuss character isn’t a woman (preferably lesbian and/or Muslim) and the Robert Shaw character isn’t a trans woman, I am not watching! It’s the 2020s! Down with white, male, hetero and cis-supremacist relics from the 70s! Diversity über Alles!

Once again, I will reiterate that We Got This Covered is NOT a reliable website in the slightest. It’s pure garbage. If they are the first ones to report on something, then it’s almost guaranteed to be a load of crap.

If remaking shitty movies was the norm id actually be excited about it. Most movies no matter how bad probably have an interesting idea, maybe its just not executed properly. Remaking a bad movie has a greater chance to create an enjoyable one than remaking a great film.

Uh... that sentence. Have you statistics to back... that sentence... up? Uhhh...yea, my own opinion on remakes and how unnecessary they are for good movies. This is all one train of thought here, me talking about my own excitement or lack thereof for remakes.

I'd never say what should or shouldn't be done in the movie world just based on my own opinions.

As long as they make Quint a transgendered woman, Hooper a black woman and Brody a Muslim, I'm on board.

Well that's how you and I differ then. I'd never say what should or shouldn't be done in the movie world just based on my own opinions. And in all honesty neither would I. When this conversation started i just kind of followed it along rather than being very specific in my wording and now it kind of seems like you've set up a difference of opinions just to make some kind of high horse statement....but to be clear i don't think my opinions on films should be the only thing that matters. All my comments are merely in regard to my own excitement for upcoming films. When i hear theyre remaking Jaws or Ghostbusters or Back to the Future or The Godfather...i role my eyes because they seem so unnecessary and have an almost impossible uphill climb to even match the movie theyre remaking let alone surpass them. So I'd rather see remakes of films with interesting ideas that weren't really executed properly like for example...The Last Airbender , The Langoliers or The Island of Dr. Moreau.

I don't see why anybody cares.
If you aren't interested, just don't go see it.
Problem solved.

Hollywood is out of original screenplay ideas. They'll make sure to appease the Chinese co-financiers and make the marine biologist a Chinese national here on a "mission of mercy".

The only way it would work is if it was a twist and Jaws was a friendly shark maybe have a little Free Willy tale?

After Sharknado you can never do a regular man eating shark movie again. Eh, The Shallows was better than it should had been.
My third favorite (A DISTANT THIRD, that IS) after Deep Blue Sea (1999) which IS a DISTANT SECOND to Jaws (1975)!!!
