I don't know what kind of credibility to give this, but it could definitely increase the BO potential for the film if it's true:
"What about releasing the extended version of The Rise of Skywalker into theaters around late January, after the fanboys and girls had already paid to see it once or twice? The plan would be to release a longer version that included 3-5 additional sequences, then hint at the even longer Director’s Cut for it’s digital and home entertainment release."
