The drummer from Rush passed away from brain cancer at only 67. Whatever your thoughts on Rush, he was one of the best that ever lived. Thanks for the music, Rest In Peace.

I was just about to start a thread. Heavy news indeed.
RIP to the best drummer I was ever lucky enough to see live.

Never got to see Rush live, but I always thought they were better live because Geddy’s voice was a few tones lower. The things Neil Peart could do while sitting at his drum kit defied belief.

Blasting 'Working Man' in his Honor. R.I.P. I hope it’s a live version because Peart wasn’t on that first album.

I saw Rush twice, once in New Haven Ct in 1985 and at Shoreline Amphitheatre in California in 2011 or something. Both were excellent concerts.

Damn, that is sad for his family and friends, and disappointing for his fans (such as myself) who hoped for more Rush music and possibly the occasional live performance. RIP.

Never really cared for Rush, but I fuckin love his drumming. Probably third best drummer of all time behind John Bonham and Keith Moon.

From his Wiki page:
"Peart officially joined the band on July 29, 1974, (Lee's 21st birthday), two weeks before the group's first US tour. Peart procured a silver Slingerland kit which he played at his first gig with the band, opening for Uriah Heep and Manfred Mann in front of over 11,000 people at the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 14, 1974."

Last song on the last album:
The Garden
Rush
In this one of many possible worlds, all for the best, or some bizarre test? It is what it is - and whatever Time is still the infinite jest
The arrow files when you dream, the hours tick away - the cells tick away The Watchmaker keeps to his schemes The hours tick away - they tick away
The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect So hard to earn, so easily burned In the fullness of time A garden to nurture and protect
In the rise and the set of the sun 'Til the stars go spinning - spinning 'round the night It is what it is - and forever Each moment a memory in flight
The arrow flies while you breathe, the hours tick away - the cells tick away The Watchmaker has time up his sleeve The hours tick away - they tick away
The treasure of a life is a measure of love and respect The way you live, the gifts that you give In the fullness of time It's the only return that you expect
The future disappears into memory With only a moment between Forever dwells in that moment Hope is what remains to be seen
