On boxoffice.com it's only tracking to make 35M OW.........really?
It looks 10x times better than Prometheus and lately Scott has been turning out good movies since Prometheus (well for the most part). On a side note, I don't dislike Prometheus but it could have been better.
Also box office.com isn't even predicting the film will cross 100M domestic! I'm afraid this movie's success unlike most will depend on reviews.

That and I really have not heard much from the hype machine about this. Nothing beyond the obligatory "Hey! they're making another Alien movie" stuff.

Nope. It'll do amazing at the BO and get great critic reviews. FOX is confident in this film and the embargo is lifting 2 weeks before release. All signs point to a great film.

also keep in mind that the same predictions were for Prometheus, and it ended up doing significantly better.

If FOX wasn't confident we would have already gotten 6 trailers, 15, tv spots, commercials etc... Just like for Prometheus. That film had so much footage released in advanced.
But for A:C we only have 2 trailer a few TV spots 3 weeks before it's release!

That is not a tracking number, I believe they are just making predictions. And judging by the predictions from other movies recently, they could easily be wrong.
Give it time, I don't see why the tracking numbers for this new Alien film wouldn't hit at least 45 million. Actual tracking numbers adjust up until the week of release, and once their advertising campaign really starts going, I see that number going up.

I think it will be interesting to see how this generation of girls can tolerate a real terrifying monster. But I think what will always hurt these movies is the clear absence of Sigourney Weaver.
But as for me, I will be there wearing my new fan art T-shirt that reads, "They mostly come out at night. Mostly." It's bad ass.
BTW, I'm one of the few people who actually likes Prometheus. Mostly because I don't try too hard to associate it with Alien.

The fact that the embargo is lifting 2 weeks before release is a very good sign. If the reviews are very good the hype will probably become way bigger than it is now and if it's bad, I can go into the movie knowing I shouldn't expect a masterpiece.

The final trailer has already been played for audiences, you can find the description online. It features some of David bombing the engineers and a really badass sounding monologue.

I think the title might help bring in more dollars than 'Prometheus' - it sounds more like another 'Alien' movie. But then again maybe not, if people weren't too fussed about 'Prometheus'. I might go see it at the pictures.

You do realize tracking is predicting, don't you? That is true, but there is a difference between companies that track movies and their openings(based on data they compile and early ticket sales), and general predictions. This site makes general predictions.

There has not really been a good source of tracking developed as of yet.
