There have been a lot of threads for the Oscar nominations during the last week, but to keep this centralized I decided to make one specifically for the announcements today as they are announcement live at 05:18am PT. So with about 2 hours left before it begins, does anyone have any last minute predictions or do you have a prediction of a major upset or snub?

JOKER and LITTLE WOMEN for Score! Yay! THE RISE OF SKYWALKER? But the score was mostly re-using the old themes (even more than EPISODES VII & VIII). I thought US had a bigger chance here.

Notes so far (mostly a list of surprises):

*No Jennifer Lopez
*A bit expected, but what a shame Song Kang-ho didn't make it for supporting actor
*No Dolemite for Costume Design, but instead The Irishman
*Joker in both sound categories, I expected Rocketman for mixing, especially considering Bohemian Rhapsody last year
*Also Joker for costumes. It was a possibility, but it looks like the Academy really loved Joker (so far).
*Ad Astra for sound mixing, yes! What a nice surprise. Probably took the place of The Irishman or Rocketman.
*No surprises in sound editing or score.

I assumed THE LIGHTHOUSE had lost its chances of a nomination. I wasn't a big fan of THE IRISHMAN's cinematography. I would've nominated LITTLE WOMEN or PARASITE instead.

I haven't seen MALEFICENT PART 2 yet, but I assumed that ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD and especially ROCKETMAN were locks for Makeup/Hairstyling. Hell, even DOLEMITE IS MY NAME had bigger chances.
