Aside from Best Visual Effects, it was never going to land major nominations like Black Panther did last year. It's still the highest-grossing film worldwide inflation unadjusted.

"And it was accomplished by buying up empty theaters with monopoly money" in three...two...one... Well, cinemas DID something unusual while Avengers: Endgame was in cinemas. Because the film was in such a high demand to a point where several cinema and ticket websites crashed for several hours AND its runtime was too long, they took some of the screenings away from Us or The Curse of La Llorona and gave them to Endgame. And honestly, that's not all that offensive considering the former has already made enough money by then and the latter apparently sucked.

Oh well. It's not Fury Road or Joker. Or The Dark Knight.

Not only did Endgame get snubbed but to add insult to injury, Joker receives 11 Oscar nominations (most ever for a CBM) and becomes the 1st CBM to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar based solely on merit and not on using the race card.

The MCU did the Oscar nomination thing last year, garnering the first best picture Oscar nomination for a superhero movie. That is what the cinema history books will say. Forever. I'm still waiting for the 2nd superhero movie to get a best picture nod.

Then Doctor Strange 2 loses its Director and Hawkeye gets delayed. Now Joke nabs 11 Oscar nominations, most ever for a CBM, and becomes the 1st CBM to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar solely based on merit and not on using the race card.

Black Panther's nomination was solely based on merit, idiot. Otherwise, it would've never been nominated.

The decade is still young, cupcake! The Patriots have only gone 1&done once this decade, ace. Which is certainly better than missing the playoffs altogether, eh, Dallas Cowboys fan? I have absolutely no doubt the Dr. Strange 2 and Hawkeye movies will straighten themselves out in short order and kick the ass of any DC superhero movie they might be up against. Joker isn't a superhero movie. There are no superheroes in Joker. You can discuss Joker with anyone who cares on the comic book forum ... wherever that may be.

That was another "comic book" movie that wasn't a superhero movie. Which is why no one ever talks about it when they talk about the Oscars and superhero movies. ... and boy, was that one ever, mature!

And the inevitable has sadly happened. The Marvel board has finally been reduced to nothing more than a battle between DC Fan and his equally one note nemesis, King Kong Bundy.
Cupcakes for everyone! Actual productive and enjoyable discussion for no one!

I say this every year in one medium or another; no one should give a fuck about awards. It's literally just some idiots' opinions. 'The Academy' is a bunch of pretentious old white people. They're not special. They don't 'know more' about movies than anyone else.

Last troll standing will henceforth be known as the Fool on the Hill.

Why should Endgame even be nominated? It's a big dumb blockbuster but let's not pretend there's more to it, deeper layers etc. It goes for most superhero movies that what you see is what you get.
