Spiderwort, I listed those Penny Marshall, Betty Thomas, Sydney Pollack, along with the others in that last post, based on the other category in your original post: serious directors who were also actors. Some of the others in the post were/are writers as well, of course, like QT, Mel Brooks.

Steve Coogan - as well as writing a couple of vehicles for his comedy characters also co-wrote Philomena
I think all the Pythons have done a fair share of writing, both for the screen and off.
Jim Rash - co-wrote The Descendants & The Way Way Back..and earned an Oscar
Danny Strong - most famous for portraying Jonathan in Buffy The Vampire Slayer wrote The Butler and The Hunger Games Mockingjay Pt 1 & 2 amongst other things

Keefe Brasselle deserves a mention. His novel, The Cannibals, got terrible reviews, but then so did most of Brasselle's work as an actor. Amazing career, though. Right out of Harold Robbins, or maybe Jacqueline Susann.

Has Errol Flynn's name been mentioned? He apparently loved to write, had at least one published novel.
Leslie Howard was also a writer. A playwright.

I was unaware of these in particular. Thank you for the information. Here's some all from the same show THE DAY TODAY
Steve Coogan actor - went on to be nominated for Adapted Screenplay for Philomena Armando Iannucci writer/actor - nominated for Adapted Screenplay for In The Loop Patrick Marber actor - nominated for Adapted Screenplay for Notes On A Scandal Peter Baynham writer/actor - nominated for Adapted Screenplay for Borat

A movie which is a favorite of mine, The Anniversary Party, was written by two actors, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming.

I really like Georgia. I recommended it to a friend who then saw it, and then told me she wouldn't see any more movies I recommended, because it was too "depressing". Would you have taken exes on your "relatives" thread? Jennifer Jason Leigh used to be married to filmmaker, Noah Baumbach. Oh! And her younger (half-)sister, Mina Badie, is an actress who appeared in The Anniversary Party. You've already covered her mother, Barbara Turner, and Leigh's father was actor and director, Vic Morrow.

Yes, Georgia was pretty depressing. And, lord, I forgot you're the family tree wiz! I'll just add one name: her step-father was director, Reza Badiyi. Wiz? I don't know about that, but I'll take it! Dagnabbit, it didn't even occur to me that stepdad was in the business.
