SUPER BOWL 39
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (Bill Belichick) - 24
defeat.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (Andy Reid) - 21
SUPER BOWL MVP - Deion Branch, NEW ENGLAND ------------------------------------------------------------
I still remember that a lot of people were not happy with Andy Reid for the way that he handled the clock in that game.

One of Reid's weaknesses was always clock management.
If memory serves (can't believe it's been 16 years already) there was just no sense of urgency at the end of the game - that falls a lot on the QB too - you've got to be a general out there in that situation getting those guys up to the line ASAP, take control of the game (be an alpha) - and if you're not getting play calls quick enough you've got to improvise and go - be aware of the clock and what's going on around you - screw the sidelines and take the bull by the horns - be a leader.
I think a lot more people here were more upset with McNabb having a panic attack turtling puking his guts out under the lights in the biggest moments of an athletes career.
Blame deserved all around - no sense of urgency from the coaching staff / no alpha in the QB - they turtled.
But I'm a Reid/McNabb guy - hope he finally gets his title.

That whole puking story had always intrigued me. I've heard it so many times that I almost believed that I saw it myself, but no such footage exists and the stories from people on the field don't even refer to him actually vomiting. The closest thing I saw was that someone said he was almost vomiting. Really, he probably just got the wind knocked out of him. That story has really morphed over time.

I'd probably take the high road and protect my teammate as well. It's like throwing a family member under the bus. The McNabb era was odd (fascinating / entertaining) - in a sense a lot of people claim the locker room was divided - especially that year - those on T.O.'s side and those on McNabbs. I think it was Ritchie who stated McNabb threw up a lot during/before/after games - conditioning? nerves? combination of both? NFL blocks content on other sites - so this below is probably going to be blocked - and I know this is a different game - but it's on YouTube - here's McNabb puking vs. The Bucs: ** Edit - it's not blocked for some reason - you can view the clip. Shocked - NFL usually gets their hands on all content and doesn't allow replaying.

People still swear they saw it happen dramatically on TV, like Frank above, and yet not such clip exists anywhere to be found on the internet.

I’ve never seen Any Given Sunday and I don’t remember him puking at any other time. I don’t know why there’s no clip of it. But he puked in the huddle during the two minute drill. This isn’t like my friends telling me it happened. I saw it on tv. Something came out of his mouth, whether it was barf or spit or someone’s jizz I don’t know, but it happened and I’m mystified why people say that it didn’t.

I think the tape/clip has been confiscated - Kind of along the lines of the government hiding Bigfoot clips ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/s8tffwvq1/cheers.gif)

I also remember thinking TO deserved to be MVP even tho his team lost. I remember thinking he played great. But I was kind of a TO fan back then. On the field anyhow.

I probably would have said I saw it happen too, and yet such a clip doesn't exist and it undeniably would if it was on TV during the super bowl.

Here's the game in its entirety.
Maybe if I have some free time later I'll watch the 4th qtr and see if I can spot the infamous puking. To be honest I don't remember seeing it happen live, only hearing about it later.

If you do go through it and find the play where it was alleged to have been seen, then I applaud you.

Just watched the 4th quarter. I looked not only for puking, but for any closeups of McNabb shuttering or exhibiting unusual body language and I couldn't find anything. There is a closeup of Owens talking to McNabb on the sidelines and Owens says, "Just RELAX," at the end of the exchange. Even on rewatch it's still incredible how much time the Eagles waste between plays while the clock is ticking down. I don't know if you want to blame Reid, McNabb or both but it's ridiculous.
Reverting to form, I'm going to point out the Patriots defense yet again gives up a TD in the last two minutes of a Super Bowl. I also had to chuckle when at the end of the game Chris Collinsworth points out Belichick only had one winning season in Cleveland and now he has a better playoff record than Vince Lombardi. I wonder what changed between his days in Cleveland (or his first year in New England) and everything after week 2 of 2001?
