Please, add these whenever necessary: ‡ The actual winner was still good enough to be nominated. ‡‡ The actual winner wasn't good enough to be nominated, but it was still good. ‡‡‡ The actual winner wasn't good at all. ‡‡‡‡ No movie in the group deserved to be nominated, let alone win.
‡‡ 2018: BLACKKKLANSMAN, ROMA or A STAR IS BORN. ‡ 2017: DUNKIRK. 2016: I agree with MOONLIGHT. ‡‡ 2015: BRIDGE OF SPIES or ROOM. ‡‡ 2014: WHIPLASH. ‡ 2013: HER. ‡‡ 2012: DJANGO UNCHAINED, LIFE OF PI or SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. ‡‡‡‡ 2011: THE DESCENDANTS, I guess. ‡‡ 2010: 127 HOURS, BLACK SWAN or TRUE GRIT. (Skip) ‡‡‡‡ 2008: I agree with SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I guess. I've never seen FROST/NIXON, though. 2007: I agree with NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. ‡‡ 2006: BABEL. 2005: I agree with CRASH. ‡‡‡‡ 2004: Any of them, except FINDING NEVERLAND, which I've never seen. ‡‡‡‡ 2003: I agree with THE LORD OF THE RINGS PART 3: RETURN OF THE KING, I guess. I've never seen MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD, though. ‡‡‡‡ 2002: I agree with CHICAGO, I guess. ‡‡‡‡ 2001: THE LORD OF THE RINGS PART 1: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, I guess. ‡‡‡‡ 2000: CHOCOLAT, I guess.
I have to re-watch ERIN BROKOVICH, THE HURT LOCKER, THE READER and THE SOCIAL NETWORK, so I don't know if I'd pick them or not.

I haven't seen enough of these movies to make a credible list (I'm always missing out on at least 1 or 2 of the nominees before 2014), but if there's one thing going through the nominees has taught me, it's that I really prefer the expansion to 10 nominees for the Best Picture category. I know some people are against it, but the BP line-ups since 2009 have just been so much more interesting. Not that movies were worse before 2009 (not at all, they were just as good at the very least), but the BP line-ups do seem to be. There's always some Oscar-baity material that makes it in the list and by increasing the size to a max. of 10 nominees you at least give more of a chance for other types of movies to make it in as well.

Strictly adhering to movies nominated for Best Picture from 2000 to date, here are the only movies worth mentioning if you ask me... 2000 - Gladiator 2004 - The Aviator (Sideways) 2006 - The Departed 2009 - Up in the Air 2010 - True Grit 2011 - The Descendants 2012 - Django Unchained 2013 - Nebraska 2016 - La La Land 2019 - Ford v Ferrari (The Irishman) NOTE: I have not seen all of the nominated movies from 2000 to date, but I have seen enough (I could total up what I have seen but I won't for now) p.s. all of those listed above score a 7 or higher with La La Land (2016) being the only exception @ a 6-6.5/10 which basically makes them among my favorite movies in general with La La Land being a bit shy of that status, but still good enough to where it's worth mentioning. I am sure a fair amount fall under the 'the actual winner wasn't good at all' (as in Thumbs Down level) and 'no movie in the group deserved to be nominated, let alone win' (which some years have a good chance to land here for me, like... 2018/2017/2014/2008/2005/2003/2002/2001).

2004 - The Aviator (Sideways) 2019 - Ford v Ferrari (The Irishman) 1) What do the parentheses mean? 2) But the 2019 winner hasn't been announced yet.

VitsJust means it's another movie I think is worth mentioning from that year of the nominee's but is not my #1 is all of those nominated in that year is all. so in other words in those two examples... for 2004, The Aviator is my #1 choice of those listed with Sideways being my 2nd choice as it's worth mentioning and then the same applies to what I said about 2019. I could have just did say, "2004 - The Aviator/Sideways" but then it would be less clear which would be my #1 of the nominee's. but with that said... The Aviator and Sideways are close for me as The Aviator is a 7/10 and Sideways is a 6.5-7/10. but with 2019, Ford v Ferrari is my clear #1 as I gave it a 7.5-8/10 where as The Irishman was a 7/10. Yeah, so? because what I listed for 2019 is my personal favorites of the nominee's. so regardless if a winner has been announced or not, my choices won't change basically.
