Let's pretend that in an alternate universe, these two actors switched their superhero acting roles. Momoa plays Thor and Hemsworth plays Aquaman. Nothing else is changed in the movies. Same director, same script, same co-stars, same everything. The only change is the actors playing the lead roles... with maybe a slight change to Aquaman's father and Thor's mother to account for their racial backgrounds.
Who does a better job playing their new characters? What pros and cons do each bring to their new characters compared to the original actors who played the character? Will either of them improve the sales or ratings of their movies?

Jason Momoa is bad no matter who he plays. He would probably be bad even at playing Jason Momoa. So... no contest

And even as Thor he's better than Momoa in any movie Yeah he was praised for El Royale, was also pretty decent in Rush. But that was it, and when you take into account how many other roles he's had outside Thor, it doesn't really look impressive when only 2 of them get respect.

Hemsworth is obviously the better actor. Momoa can't act at all, though he does have the look. Appearance seems to be the governing factor when selecting actors for DC rolls. Gal Gadot sure is a looker, but she's almost as bad an actor as Momoa.

A mixup that honestly evens out pretty well. Hemsworth would better fit the classic design of Aquaman to a tee. And I suspect Momoa would bring a rougher hardier edge to Thor.

I think Hemsworth would be better if roles were switched. Momoa isn’t a bad actor but I agree he could be better.

Hemsworth wasn't exactly a stellar actor in the first few Thor movies. It took him some time before he got comfortable in the role. And that's coming from me who's favorite MCU character is Thor.
People watch Infinity War and think Hemsworth was always that good playing Thor.

Hemsworth is the better actor in my opinion. He needs more roles to show it, and even though he has good comedic timing, his stature is wasted in films like MIB as a 35 year old teenager.
He was fine in Cabin Fever, the few minutes he was Kirk's father in Star Trek; he's good in Battle at the El Royale. There's almost no interchangeable role between them (save maybe The Huntsman: Winter's War) because acting ability is crucial and Momoa doesn't seem to exude it.
To Jason Momoa's credit, he made it difficult to picture anyone else as Aquaman. He just has no intimidation factor, which is shocking because he should. The minute he starts talking he becomes Jason Momoa in a costume.

Thought I'd add my personal take on this. I actually agree that Hemsworth is the better actor... currently. When Hemsworth started as Thor, I actually thought he did worse then compared to how Momoa did as Aquaman. That said, I don't think the Thor role is too complicated for Momoa's skill.
In any case, I actually like this swap and think they both will improve each other's role for the better. Hemsworth fits classic Aquaman better, yet will still bring a lot of brawn and charisma to the character that no one will make fun of Aquaman again. Hemsworth brings in more poise and polish to his acting than Momoa which I think will benefit the supposed ruler of Atlantis better. Momoa felt a bit too... rough, as Aquaman.
Momoa on the other hand will bring more raw testosterone to Thor, which seems kinda fitting for the champion of a warrior race. I know Thor eventually learned humility, but I feel that they de-fanged his personality a bit too much in the movies. Momoa has a more raw, savage-seeming nature to him compared to Hemsworth and I feel it would fit a warrior of Thor's stature better.

If Mamoa was given the script to the first Thor movie, they never would've made a second one. I don't think he's as terrible as some are suggesting, but he would've been completely wrong for the MCU version of Thor.

Momoa wouldn't work as the MCU version of Thor, there is nothing Nordic looking about him at all so the casting of him as an intergalactic Viking who has been mistaken for years as a deity by the Norsemen would be a stretch. Hemsworth however would be fine as Aquaman if he ended up there instead of with Marvel.

They already race-swapped Heimdall and Valkyrie, I doubt they actually care about the Nordic roots of MCU's Asgardians. It's not like Momoa matched Aquaman's looks either.

I don't think it'd make the slightest difference to the first couple of Thor films or to Aquaman. They're both played as basically cocky surfer bros, with one blatantly modeled after the other.
However, once you get to Ragnarok, I think it falls apart for Mamoa. He doesn't have Hemsworth's comic timing, and I think he's also too much of a hardass to pull off the vulnerability of Thor in the last two Avengers films.

Hemsworth actually would've been a perfect Aquaman. I wish they had waited until he was done with the MCU and cast him in the role.
Mamao seems like a cool dude so I hate to trash his acting skills... Bu the guy just cannot act. So his Thor would be about as bland as his Aquaman.
