I just dont know what to say, the shock of this news is too big. It goes to show that you never know when your life will be taken away. R.I.P. to Kobe and his daughter Gianna.

Theres video of him crying after hearing the news. Where’d you see it? I can’t find anything. Can’t post the link on my phone. Just google LeBron. He’s on the tarmac hugging a few people and crying as he’s walking. Grainy footage shot from some distance.

RIP for all of them. Extra sad that his daughter and possibly another kid also died before they got a chance at a longer life.

Him and his daughter Gianna were among the 9 passengers on that helicopter on their way to practice... What a shame. This is truly shocking and tragic! RIP Condolence to the rest of the Bryant family too.

It's really weird how this all played out. Not weird in a conspiracy kind of way, but weird because last I heard about the guy, he was on Twitter congratulating LeBron for passing him on the scoring list. Not even 24 hours later, he's dead.
Gotta appreciate every moment you're alive because you never really know if it's going to be your last. Helps to remember that.
RIP Mamba

Lakers have to win the championship now – not only to honour Kobe but to make a fool out of LaVar Ball, who declared LA would never win another ring (just because they traded Lonzo).

Guess he wore both 8 and 24 for a reason. Teams are either honoring him with 24 second violations or 8-second backcourt violations to start games.

Saw this on msn while at work earlier. I'm still wordless. I do think his ilk deserves words though which I'd like to share. Kobe was the NBA icon between MJ & Lebron, leaving nothing on the floor or in his post-Lakers world. While I never was a 'fan' of his, I always appreciated his greatness. There can be athletes who we tire of or want to tune out, but Kobe was like a truly levelled up basketball weapon of mass destruction. Saving grace will forever show nothing of his wasn't full effort. He won all the titles he could will his teammates along to achieve. He & Shaq were an historic buzzsaw who were brotherly, & yet too overwhelming together for the same locker room - it happens. Team USA, record books, etc. What I always did love about the guy was his cosmopolitan view of things & the world. Sure, he grew up in Italy, & was forever a lone wolf by choice. He had & shared a worldly view of all things & people - a trait far, far too many are either afraid of &/or uncomfortable even acknowledging. This world is far more than Big Macs & iPhones. I thought it was always nice that he was a not so shy fan of soccer, not least as the global uniting sport.
I think it began to get real for me when someone mentioned on radio driving home (I never listen to radio*), Kobe will miss his HOF induction. That's fuct. I too am 41yrs old, & I'm aware the crew of early 40 somethings in the wide pop culture like him, Tiger, Brady, Leo, etc who are now paving long legacies.

I can't think of another athlete who aroused as many emotions in my mind as Kobe Bryant. He was infuriating, exhilarating, maddening, and electrifying all at the same time. As a Laker fan, I loved his heroics and despised his petulance. His final years were horrible, and when he retired I said 'good riddance!'. But, even though basketball is the only sport I really care about, I can't find the same enthusiasm for the game as I did when Kobe played for the Lakers. There was something about the way he played that just sucked you in to the game. He could put the whole team on his back and carry them to victory, or shoot them out of the game without a second thought. Kobe did as he pleased, and we were all along for the ride.
The whole event is a tragedy, made even more so by the death of his daughter, the other child, and the other passengers and pilot. There will never be another athlete quite like Kobe Bryant. So long, # 8/24.
