I am rewatching every Star Wars film with my daughter. She loved. Them. I am on The Last Jedi now. We have already watched 7 films. I must say that The Force Awakens was MUCH better than I remember. Also, rewatching the new trilogy has me wondering. Everything makes sense. The movie is called The Force AWAKENS. It is mentioned a few times that there is a big reawakening in the force. Everyone is more connected to it. I feel that the culmination of that power resides in Rey and Kylo. The Force has awakened more powerful than ever and they are the brunt of the power. It is pretty well explained in the trilogy, although subtle.

Being born with combat ready incredible force powers makes little sense to me given the forces historical inspiration. The force is meant to coincide with the Buddhist aspiration of reaching enlightenment through dedication and years of learning detachment. As its presented in TFA, I cant accept its just hand gifted in ready made form to an unknowing "host" through no effort of their own. It kind of defeats the purpose of Jedi training from youngling stage to master rank that the prequels and OT built.
George Lucas "I'm curious that the force doesn't get muddled into a bunch of garbeldy-goop".
George knew.

It is pretty well explained in the trilogy, although subtle. But it was never dormant, that's sort of a major flaw in that idea though right? Also why did this not happen before? surely the birth, rise and fall of Anakin the prophesised child who would restore balance to the force would have awoken sleeping parts of the force right?
Also that's not really explained though I still need to see TROS, like people had The Force prior to their awakenings, Palp was always around Snoke had the power, Luke did too as did all his students including Leia, probably some inquisitors out there somewhere still, Ezra and Ahsoka are still out there though I guess Ashoka is meant to be dead now? The force is inherited by blood so that also means Kanan's son also has the power, Broom Kid didn't seem shocked he could use the force either, I mean I dunno sounds like a cop out, though it would have been a great idea for a series based say 1000 years into the future, where the old ways have been forgotten, Jedi & Sith truly fallen into legend and myth until these two kids are born and suddenly the Force is reawaken some how.

Anakin was born with the most force potential than anyone else. Still needed training and got his arm chopped off by experienced Sith Lord because Force potential wasn't enough.
It doesn't really make any sense for Rey. Kylo was training since he was a kid so his mastery of the Force is easier to understand.

A simple out which they seemed close to but didn't use would be the Dyad or whatever connection Rey and Kylo shared not only amplified their power but shared their knowledge hence Rey gaining skills after her "interrogation" by Kylo, though it does mean the force download joke people have been making since TFA is true, still better than nothing, but no one has said that's what they said, just that the Dyad or whatever they are creates a bond which magnifies the power of both parties, but power isn't the issue it was Rey's insta Jedi mastery for no reason, like no one complains about Kylo's power though many will claim this is due to "sexism" but truth is he was a trained force user, and introduced as such where as Rey went from clueless scavenger to the most proficient Jedi ever in the span of a couple of days.
