I would like to have a copy of the novel. YOU CAN BUY IT.
It was crowdfunded.
So I read.
Oh god I'm shrinking.

I really liked the Kurt Russell one and the remake. There's plenty of life in this franchise. Now if only someone could explain to me how the alien absorbs humans into its ass taking their form then I'd die a happy man.

IMO no movie should ever be remade unless you're absolutely certain that A) you can improve on it, and B) you have something original and new to add to the story; something that makes your version not just a remake, but unique in its own right.
Good example? A Star is Born. Bad example? the last THE THING!
Also, some time should pass between remakes, don't you think?

Let the sequel be about Norwegians checking out the American camp.

More annoying than a possible remake of the greatest film ever, is the prequel being called a remake

Just because a film is popular doesn't automatically mean it's good. I mean, a lot of people also saw Fifty Shades of Grey...

Why Blumhouse? They screwed up Black Christmas!!!! I can’t forgive them for that piece of shit.

I'd be intrigued if they stuck to (mostly) practical effects this time. The piss poor CGI of the 2011 movie really killed it for me.

I realize that I am in the very extremely small minority on this one but I actually like the 2011 Prequel to "John Carpenter's THE THING".

And back to my original post: IMO no movie should ever be remade unless you're absolutely certain that A) you can improve on it, and B) you have something original and new to add to the story; something that makes your version not just a remake, but unique in its own right. IMO the latest version does both.

Also, some time should pass between remakes, don't you think? Hopefully they will base this new film on the new material discovered for the novel, in which case this won't really be a remake so much as another adaptation of the same source material, like the latest Little Women.

I can't put my finger on why I dislike the new version so much. I think the main reason is because I don't think the leads have any chemistry. Watching these characters was like watching paint dry.
