Just watched this...
Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage. In this instance a university literature professor Nicolas Cage.
His young son vanishes at a Halloween carnival.
Just before he disappears, he says "Dad, can we pay the ghost?".
The kid appears to Nic, and to his mum, in strange ways a year later.
It becomes apparent some spooky shenanigans is responsible for taking his son.
Can Nic Cage unravel the supernatural mystery, and save his son from the other side?
You get the idea.
Nothing really new here. It's by the numbers stuff, but I enjoyed it for what it was...
6/10

Another critically reviled movie that you've given a nominal passion grade. And another one with what sounds like a promising if not at all original premise.
Does Cage retract from it, or does the movie handle him? I can't take him seriously because he's just so terrible and ridiculous in everything, but sometimes a movie like Mandy or Mom and Dad find a way to meet him at his ludicrousness and make it work. I'm looking forward to Color Out of Space, but I'm a little nervous about the Nic Cage of it.

It is what it is... Nothing special, but there's a lot worse films knocking about. Think 'Mama', or 'White Noise'... Somewhere on that level.
