Correct, I really like the original It but it was first a 2 part television mini series then edited together as a 3 hour movie to video, came under the television section of what i was using to make the poll, also there are only 50 options for the poll so could not include everything

Not a film, but my #1 adaptation would be the mini series The Stand.

I voted for ones I liked the most rather than how accurate an adaptation they were.
For example The Running Man is a terrible adaptation, it’s almost nothing like the story it’s based on...however it’s a very fun movie.

Wellmy intention was for people to vote for what they like rather than how close the adaption was, so well done

Nice poll for horror fans, must have taken a while filling in the fields. Thanks, I enjoyed voting and seeing the results being revealed.

The non-horror ones.
The Green Mile The Shawshank Redemption Stand By Me
An asterisk for The Shining. Loved the movie, hated the movie. The book was unfilmable at it was. Too many horror elements couldn't be done, the fire hose, the topiary. The Grady Girls were a good touch. But Jack sinks into insanity for no coherent reason. And Kubrick has to make it his own.
I see no one voted for the Dark Tower

I have talked about this before but when it comes to "THE SHINING".....
I felt so bad for Scatman Crothers character in that Movie.
The poor guy travels all the way from Miami to Denver, and then from Denver to the Hotel, and then 5 minutes after he arrives.....Jack Nicholson puts an axe into his chest.

1. Stand By Me 1. The Shining
I think these are the two best and I can't pick one above the other, Stand By Me because it's one of the few films that nearly made me cry as an adult and The Shining because it is an exquisite haunted house work of art
3. Carrie (1976) - my favorite King novel, the movie is pure innovation, especially the last half hour 4. The Shawshank Redemption - a great film but oddly not one I've ever wanted to own, I guess because it's been on tv so often+ 5. Dolores Claiborne - a wonderful film with exceptional performances, the cuts between the past and present are seamless and often times shocking, haven't read the novel yet 6. The Green Mile - a surprisingly life affirming movie with standout performances but none better than Michael Clarke Duncan 7. The Mist - I would guess the most divisive King film, thanks to the ending, but I loved every minute 8. Silver Bullet - silly, fun and even moving at times, much better than the novella 9. It Chapter One - a fine film, based on what I consider King's last great novel, the young cast is excellent 10. Christine - a decent film on its own even if it's nowhere as good as the excellent novel
