As far as this thread is concerned -- in the immortal words of Mitchum:
"Baby, I don't care!"
What I need now is a drink:
"Bourbon, straight -- with a Bourbon chaser."

Marriages in Film Noir:
"I sell accident insurance on husbands ... you got one that's been around too long? One you'd like to turn into a little hard cash?"
"My two husbands was turnips!"
"The bonds of matrimony can weigh heavily on one's soul."
"My first wife was second cook in a third-rate joint on Fourth Street."
"There's one good thing about being a widow -- you don't have to ask your husband for money."

Make yourself at home in Noir town:
Quite the hacienda.
Hey, I like this -- early nothing!
What a dump!
It's lavish -- but I call it home.
What a place -- I can feel the rats in the wall.
You call this dump a hotel -- how often do they change the fleas?
A neglected house gets an unhappy look -- this one had it in spades.

I love this dirty town.
You're about as romantic as a pair of handcuffs.
What do you mean "gangsters"? It's business.
When you're a housekeeper's daughter, you see the world through a half-open door
Silly, law-abiding jerk.
You shouldn't kiss a girl when you're wearing that gun... leaves a bruise.

One of my favorites! I'm slapping my forehead for not thinking of it.

I abhor violence, Mr (insert hero's name), it is so primitive, but .... Good one. Here is only one example of it. "You place me in an extremely distasteful position, Mr. Murdock. Brutality has always revolted me." Morris Carnovsky to Humphrey Bogart in "Dead Reckoning"

I'm in the middle of watching "Larceny" (1948) when John Payne comes up with this line to Shelly Winters. I just had to share:
"You stupid little twist. Here I am beating my brains out with a bunch of corny people trying to make enough money to break with Silky and you keep gumming up the works."

Can't find the quote but a Russian novelist, possibly Tolstoy, said the burden of marriage was sometimes more than only two people could carry.

Bottoms up in Film Noir: _____________________________________
Do you think that beer has food value?
Here's to the drink habit -- the only one I got that ain't got me into trouble.
Occasionally I always drink too much.
Drinking don't bother my memory -- if it did I wouldn't drink.
I distrust a man who says 'when' -- if he's got to be careful not to drink too much, it's because he's not to be trusted when he does.
Have you ever noticed if for some reason you want to feel completely out of step with the rest of the world, the only thing to do is sit around a cocktail lounge in the afternoon?

Someone on the Old Boards had this one (from "The Third Man") as a SIG: "I'm just a hack writer who drinks too much and falls in love with girls."

Noir Dining

What am I, a bowl of fruit? A tangerine that peels in a minute?
I wouldn't give you the skin off a grape.
I've met some hard-boiled eggs before -- but you're 20 minutes!
I'd hate to take a bite outta you -- you're a cookie full of arsenic.
What kind of a dish was she? The sixty-cent special -- cheap, flashy ... strictly poison under the gravy.
You'd sell out your own mother for a piece of fudge.
It's back to the hash house for me!
When I bite a steak, I like it to bite back at me.
Two things I can smell inside a hundred feet -- burning hamburger and a romance.
You can go back to your chickens and your pies now -- we're through.

Not sure if this was an actual brand... It is a new brand added onto an old picture of Bogie. Bogart and Bacall's son Stephen Bogart is a big promoter of his father's legacy. He wrote a book published in the 1990s called "In Search of My Father" and sponsors and hosts an annual film festival featuring Bogart's films in the Florida Keys. He also is head of The Humphrey Bogart Estate which has partnered with distillers to produce the Bogart Spirits. Their aim is a high end product. So far, I haven't sampled any of these spirits. bogartspirits.com/
