During the Eagles Super Bowl year, Doug Pederson brought in Kobe Bryant to speak to the Eagles and teach them the “Mamba mentality.” The result? The Eagles defeated the Patriots and earned their first Lombardi trophy.
This year before the big game Andy Reid is bringing in a motivational speaker to get the troops ready. That speaker is none other than the illustrious, cool under pressure, never vomited in his life Donovan McNabb.
Imagine you’re a Chief. For most of you this is the first Super Bowl you will be playing in. You’re psyched, ready to run through a wall, and your coach, a man for whom Big Games and Success have been mutually exclusive, brings in one of the ultimate chokers (literally) to get you pumped up and teach you how to win the big game. THIS is supposed to motivate you? THIS is what will tip the balance in your favor? Donovan “DUI” McNabb? Was Jared Goff otherwise unavailable?
Folks, the game is already over. If you don’t put every cent on the Niners right now, don’t come crying to me later.

The other day I found out Wes Welker is the WRs coach for the Niners. That's what has me rooting for them, but also has me concerned. Welker seems to be cursed. He's played on three of the most offensively productive teams in NFL history and the lost the Super Bowl each time.

I cracked up when Cataldi was talking about this on WIP this morning.
Rumor has it he was trying to get Tra Thomas but he was unavailable.
It also came out that former Eagles Center Hank Fraley and Tackle Jon Runyan also confirmed that McNabb puked in the SB - so it wasn't just Lito and Ritchie.

Honestly, I’ve never seen the benefit of having a motivational speaker in before the Super Bowl / Grand Final / Cup Final etc. If you aren’t naturally motivated by then, you ain’t ever going to be, and no pelican who the coach knows or is owed a favour is going to get you there.

How can you not love Andy Reid after this? I mean I hate him but I love that he thinks that this is a good idea? You can’t teach an old walrus new tricks.

I want the 9ers to lose after the way they ran over my Packers. However they may have showed they want it more. If they win, that is why.

There’s also Sammy Watkins, Chiefs WR, quotes saying he doesn’t wanna be a chief next year, might sit out and try to go somewhere else to create a super bowl contender.
What an odd time to state these thoughts. I know he was asked the question by a reporter but still...

It's crazy that everyone on both teams is healthy. Can't imagine that's ever been true before.
