Hear me out I thought Joker was a very good film but not the masterpiece it's hyped up to be. I mean I get that it addresses relevant topics but it basically copied King of Comedy and Taxi Driver.
Go on any social media and there are people treating it like the next Godfather. Heck one claimed it was better than classics like Jurassic Park (My personal favorite movie) and even went as far as to claim that JP is for only kids and developmentally delayed adults.
Honestly I'm mostly sick of this film turning people into pseudo intellectuals.

Ive got Joker on in the background, lol. I really love it. I don't feel the need to beat it over anyones head tho. Its a good movie with a lot to say about mental illness and society and it does so with some over the top violence, a good amount of awkwardness and an incredible score.

The movie is about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the nuts and it steals a lot from The King of Comedy, even casting Robert DeNiro in the Jerry Lewis part. The movie is essentially a cliche on top of cliche on top of cliche. I like the movie quite a bit and do think it touches on important themes, but it could have been handled a lot better. The reason I like the movie as much as I do is because it is about the Joker and is very well made and has a very good central performance. If the lead up to the last 20 minutes was as interesting and powerful as the last 20 minutes then it could have been a great movie. As it is, it is just a good movie imo.

Yea see, I don’t always need subtle. I think the ‘on the sleeve’ approach Joker took worked for it, for me at least.

Not particularly, but I also tend to be of the opinion I would feel the same if I were part of a community or the last person on Earth. Anybody can take an argument about a film too far. I'm not concerned about that. I love hearing what other people think but turning on a movie because of a fan base is weak. Where's the independence?

GROW THE FUCK UP! I never said I didn't like Joker if you read my first sentence. I really liked it I just don't think it's a masterpiece. I can coexist with people that love the movie but I hate how it's being pushed as the greatest film of all time when there are plenty of better movies. Calm down Jeez.

It did work overall which is why I think it is a good movie, but you didn't comment on my other problems with it. My main problem is there is nothing particularly original about it. The movie even steals from Fight Club.

Everything feels like something else on some level.

I wanted this movie to be something more unique and for me it wasn't. The only reason it stands out is because it is about the Joker.

I don’t blame you for being annoyed, because some can be pretty over the top, but I’ve found the anti-Joker crowd to be more annoying.

I liked the movie quite a bit and I don't typically watch superhero (or comic book based) films. I wouldn't put it on par with the classics, although for a 21st century film it's probably one of the better mainstream ones. Phoenix turns in a remarkable performance.

Haha I guess it was the comment about it being better than Jurassic Park that drove me up the wall given that JP is my favorite film. I mean childhood nostalgia plays a big factor but I'm still a firm believer in it being a great movie. Joker was still better than a lot of other comic book movies though.

Jurassic Park is a masterpiece. The Joker craze has reminded me a bit of the crazy The Dark Knight Rises crowd. Most people liked it and didn’t care if someone else did or not, but there’s always a few morons who take any kind of criticism too seriously.

I admit that they are overhyping it a bit, but I still love the movie.

The King Of comedy is much better. I hope these Joker fanboys have been influenced enough watched it.
