I know. And that's stupid. But --- stupid works with stupid people. And children. Stupid people and children are not mentally advanced enough to think conceptually. I don't think Thomas Aquinas and Saint Augustine were stupid people. Many intelligent people believe this stuff. I'm just giving you my opinion. You can believe anything you want. |

I don't believe in Catholicism. I'm just saying there are intelligent people who do. And they're very literal about it.

And just because somebody is generally intelligent, doesn't mean they are smart about everything. I know many generally smart and knowledgeable people who have some real crazy ideas. |

Good luck with that! My takeaway is that there are people who seem to think the world will end when they die... or somehow think I wish it would...? Or something. I just hope that me dying doesn’t make everyone else’s life feel better. Why do you always make things out to be about you? This seems like a serious pathological issue.

Priests DO talk about Purgatory. Every once-in-awhile we PRAY for the SOULS in Purgatory. They NEVER talk about Limbo since it PROBABLY DOESN'T exist as Heaven, Purgatory and Hell ALL three DO EXIST! No I'm a bit confused. Are Purgatory and Limbo different places? No! Semantics.

My takeaway is that there are people who seem to think the world will end when they die... or somehow think I wish it would...? Or something. What exactly is it you aren't understanding? If the world as you know it is going to drop away or end when you die, how the frick can it still be here for you? Its your world, your universe, your consciousness awareness of it. It can't exist, anymore than you won't be existing when your body dies. If you think it does, that will just lead to more issues of attachments and aversions of the mind.

The two are different. That is just some bogus religious reasoning behind what it is. It is a delusion of meaninglessness for those who aren't religious. One would have to define sin and how do we know that earth isn't purgatory.
