LORD OF THE FLIES 1963 4/10 In LORD OF THE FLIES 1990, the characters are kids who attend a military school so, from the beginning, they're already in touch with their aggressive side. That goes against the point of William Golding's novel: Even innocent people (like kids who attend a regular school and are part of a choir) can become savages (if you've gone to a mall on Black Friday, then you already knew that). Since the story focuses on the most basic characteristics humans have, there has been a downside in every incarnation. You see, while the characters' actions leave an impression on the viewer, their personalities don't really have an opportunity to do so. Despite that, most of the performances in this version are good, unlike LORD OF THE FLIES 1963, where the only good one was James Aubrey's (while Hugh Edwards' was bad). 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

I have only seen the 1990 version and I would have to rate it a 5/10.
