From an interview with Empire: I'm so lucky to have Rian [Johnson] in my life. He’s such a great writer. That script arrived and I was literally like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I couldn't believe that he wanted me to play it. I was going, ‘It says Southern accent you went here. Really?’ And he's like, ‘Yeah?’
We've just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They've just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it’s better? We'll see. I don't want to tempt fate. It's different, and that's the amazing thing. It's still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it's very different. I'm very excited about it.screenrant.com/knives-out-2-very-different-sequel-daniel-craig/

"It took me back to my roots because it really did feel like an old school ensemble," Hahn said about filming the Netflix sequel. "It really felt a lot like my class at Yale. I had the same kind of fond feelings of love and tenderness towards everybody." … "I'm so lucky to have Rian in my life," Craig shared. "He's such a great writer. That script arrived and I was literally like, 'Are you kidding me?' I couldn't believe that he wanted me to play it. I was going, 'It says Southern accent you went here. Really?' And he's like, 'Yeah?' We've just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They've just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it's better? We'll see. I don't want to tempt fate. It's different, and that's the amazing thing. It's still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it's very different. I'm very excited about it." "In my mind, I don't even think of it in terms of like a sequel," Johnson previously explained. "Ever since we started working on this I was like, look, if we can keep this going, the same way Agatha Christie wrote a bunch of Poirot novels. I mean, do that with Blanc and keep making more mysteries. Whole new cast, whole new location, whole new mystery. It's just another Benoit Blanc mystery and it seems like there's just so many different things you can do with it, you know? It seems like it'd be really fun." comicbook.com/movies/news/knives-out-2-kathryn-hahn-teases-old-school-ensemble-in-netflix-sequel/

Before Knives Out 2 drops on Netflix in 2022, it may be released in theaters for a 45-day window.

Maybe Netflix will finally go bankrupt and a real movie studio will buy the rights to distribute this.

Maybe Netflix will finally go bankrupt and a real movie studio will buy the rights to distribute this. Let's hope so. As someone living outside the US, I fear it won't even make it into theaters in my country. I would've also loved to buy a physical copy. Now for the first time in my life I will have to subscribe to Netflix to be able to watch it.

Didn’t Rían Johnson sell this movie to Netflix because the pandemic made him unsure about the state of movie theaters?

Didn’t Rían Johnson sell this movie to Netflix because the pandemic made him unsure about the state of movie theaters? Probably that and also the fact that Netflix threw the most money at him may have helped too lol. deadline.com/2021/03/knives-out-two-sequels-netflix-400-million-plus-deal-daniel-craig-rian-johnson-ram-bergman-1234724575/I am definitely in the minority here, but I thought Knives Out was one of the most overrated films to have been released in the past 3 years or so. Its not nearly as clever or funny as a lot of people think it is (IMO ) and a lot of the humor fell flat for me (at least) and I've just never got the appeal for Daniel Craig (whether as Bond or him hamming it up with a bad fake southern drawl in Knives Out. ) It wasn't all bad though, I liked seeing Chris Evans act like a complete asshole (which was refreshing since most of his roles from 2011 to 2019 were him being Captain America and always doing the right thing ) and you can of course never go wrong with the goddess Ana de Armas (she was quite good in this and easily one of the most beautiful actresses out there) Its odd too because I used to really dig Rian Johnson as a director (loved Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper and imo he directed some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad) but now that he's gone full mainstream after directing The Last Jedi (such a massive disappointment but that's for another discussion lol ) and then the predictably obvious & forgettable "whodunit" Knives Out, I gotta say that I've lost interest in him as a director. I am very happy for his success though and will definitely keep an open mind to his future projects down the road(probably not with the Knives Out sequels though haha)

So many good, odd, memorable lines, I thought, most out of the mouth of Daniel Craig as Kentucky-Fried Hercule Poirot:Humor is, of course, subjective, but that’s the kind of theatrical dialogue that I love—and that I think has been sadly lacking from movies in the last few years. (Robert Eggers and, to a lesser degree, David Lowery also write that kind of dialogue, so I hope it’s coming back to Hollywood.) I also found the mystery plot a joy, with its updating of Anthony Berkeley (Berkeley, with his bitchiness and plot structure, was far more an inspiration than Agatha Christie) and that lovely aural ambiguity clue.
