You have to ask yourself, why was Suicide Squad a big hit financially and not BoP (most likely)? Both are/were unknown properties. My guess would be that SS had The Joker in it. Harley Quinn was a lot more sexier in SS than here in BoP. And Batman was also shown in the trailers. Take those 3 things out and you're left with BoP. You also forgot the marketing for Suicide Squad got people hyped up, that wasn't the case with BOP, which is sad because according to a lot of people I have seen talk about the movie it is far and away the much more entertaining of the two movies, the marketing for BOP was creative at times but not engaging, the Batman & Joker thing is a point also but not so much them specifically but just identifiable characters, if Batgirl had been in the movie and the marketing it would have been much more identifiable and would have hooked more people is my guess. I dunno, a lot of the reaction to BoP first trailer was that it looked and felt a lot like SS with the dazzling vibes and sassy tone. Yeh if they had more iconic females like Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Batgirl in it then it woulda got more exposure. I know the first 2 arent part of the group traditionally but you get what I.mean.

Dunno but I know it wasn't as memorable, I remember the SS trailer 3 1/2 years on, I don't recall much of any of the BOP trailers just a few months or even weeks later, thing with SS it pretty much told you what the film was going to be, the BOP trailers not so much other than hey look it's Harley, SS also had way more catchiness to their trailers and such, you know it's that thing where you can try to imitate something and hit the same beats but not get the same results, BOP seemed to do that I guess they may have had similar aspects but not the same impact as SS had, which all things considered is kind of funny.
I have said from day -1 before they even announced this movie I didn't like the idea of Harley with the BOP because I didn't want them using the BOP as a mere Harley/Robbie vehicle, I wanted a BOP movie with Batgirl and maybe Harley is the villain or a temporary ally with them and just make her part of the story not make it just her story, or do a Gotham City Sirens film with Harley & Ivy and Catwoman and maybe use the BOP in the movie in small roles to establish them to then do a full BOP movie without Harley then do a full on BOP Vs. GCS movie, they instead made a Harley movie out of a different property and left off the most iconic member of said group so they could simply focus on Harley/Robbie.
