The line rings a bell....but it probably is the Tyrone power movie mentioned at the end of the article. Saw it in the 60s so my recollection might be mistaken.

Maybe this:
"You're a low-down Yankee liar."
Shane to Jack Wilson
So, the woman should've gritted her teeth and replied, "Prove it!"
(I know the Duke isn't in it.)

I like Joe Biden but there’s no way that young woman was going to get the reference. She must have been thinking, “Dog faced? What the hell?”

I found a reference to the earlier use of the phraseology and "an Indian Chief" apparently says the line TO John Wayne … Possibly it's Vittorio in HONDO ? It sounds like something Vittorio would say !

more : dailycaller.com/2020/02/09/biden-woman-lying-dog-faced-pony-soldier-new-hampshire/Politics Biden Jokingly Calls Student ‘Lying Dog-Faced Pony Soldier’ At New Hampshire Event Twitter/@tomselliott Comments Virginia Kruta Associate Editor February 09, 2020 2:10 PM ET Font Size: Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to jokingly insult a New Hampshire student Sunday, calling her a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” at a Hampton Beach event. Biden was reportedly responding to a question about his campaign’s lackluster performance in the Iowa caucuses and how he planned to forge a path forward, especially if he did not do well in New Hampshire’s primary. (RELATED: Biden Says It Will Be ‘Incredibly More Difficult’ To Beat Trump If Bernie Is The Nominee) The woman introduced herself as “Madison” and said that she was a student before asking her question, which she warned might seem “mean.” Biden responded by quickly removing his jacket as the audience laughed. “A young woman asks Biden ‘How do you explain the performance in Iowa and why should the voters believe that you can win a national election?’ Biden’s response: ‘You ever been to a caucus?’ Woman says yes. Biden: ‘No you haven’t. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier,'” Jon Ward tweeted. New York Magazine’s Olivia Nuzzi heard it as well, saying that the former vice president seemed to be joking. “I believe he replied, in a joking way: ‘you’re a lying dog faced pony soldier’ Which is not a phrase I have ever heard” she added. Yahoo! News’ Sharon Weinberger said that Biden had used that particular insult before, usually about Republicans. “So, apparently Biden has used this ‘dog-faced pony soldier’ phrase before, but about Republicans. It’s allegedly from a film where an Indian chief tells John Wayne: ‘This is a lying dog-faced pony soldier,'” Weinberger tweeted, adding a query for verification. “However, haven’t been able to verify that line. Any John Wayne experts?” Biden did use the line — which he himself attributed to an unnamed John Wayne film — in 2018 remarks attacking North Dakota Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer.

This from HONDO ... he repeats pony soldier .... so maybe the other line is from here too ! Vittorio: You are Apache. Now, hear me. Pony soldiers are near. Soon will be ford-remembered fight. They will come here first. You will not go with them, white man. Hondo Lane: I will not. Vittorio: Leader of pony soldiers will question you. You will say you see Apache trailing to the west. Hondo Lane: [refusing to comply with the additional instruction] This I will not do. Vittorio: You will not? Hondo Lane: I will not. Vittorio: [to Mrs. Lowe] You have good man. Treasure him.

yet more, jervistetch "Biden has used the phrase before and his campaign maintains that it’s from a John Wayne movie. During a 2018 rally for then-Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, Biden said “there’s a line in a John Wayne movie where the Indian chief turns to John Wayne and says, ‘This is a lying dog-faced pony soldier.’ ” But the 77-year-old may be conflating lines from several films. The phrase “dog-faced soldiers” appears in the 1949 John Wayne film “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon,” according to Slate, while there are a few references to “pony soldiers” in the 1953 John Wayne movie “Hondo.” "

Biden is aware that there would be no chance in Hell that the Duke would ever vote for him, right?

Hondo/She Wore a Yellow Ribbon/Shane. Biden should never apologize. It's a sign of weakness.

Just be happy he didn't say the first line in this exchange to the young lady
Captain Nathan Brittles: You've got a breath on you like a hot mince pie! Top Sergeant Quincannon: Ah, Captain darlin', as you well know I took "the pledge" after Chapultepec. Captain Nathan Brittles: And Bull Run, and Gettysburg, and Shiloh. And St. Patrick's Day. And the Fourth of July! Beats me where you hide the stuff.
