So...Wheel of Time is gonna be a series on Amazon Prime Video...i don't know how many people are familiar with the series but Ive read several of the novels and its a very solid fantasy series with lots of memorable characters and an incredibly detailed world with factions and politicking and all that. Its much heavier on the fantasy elements tho. Closer to Lord of the Rings in that regard. Hopefully the adaptation will live up to the standards the books (at least the first few) set forth.

It's interesting you bring this up as I just put a hold on the first book through my local library. I've never read the series before, but after many years of hearing about it, I thought I would give it a whirl. I like the series is finished - unlike A Song of Ice and Fire. I think if I had known Martin wouldn't finish it, I probably wouldn't have ever started that series.

Worth noting...the author of Wheel of Time did die before finishing the series, but a different author took his notes and finished it. So the biggest worry of Ice and Fire fans was a reality to Wheel of Time fans once upon a time.

Is that why you've only read the first few books?

Is that why you've only read the first few books? No, I just decided to take a break. I read about 7 of them back to back and started to feel burned out on them. I have book 8 on my shelf I’ve read a few pages from...trying to get back in. There’s like 12 or 14 novels total. I’ve heard from fans of the series that the finish was well done tho. People have praised the guy who took over the mantle to finish the series...I can’t think of his name.

That always a series I wanted to read. When bi finally got around to giving it a go, I got a through like 30 pages before quitting. A little TOO "fantasy" for me...if that makes sense.

The very beginning is a little...lore-ey....if i remember correctly. It lays the groundwork for the Lews Therin character...which is the pivotal character in the series...who reincarnates over and over. Once you get to Rand, Mat and Perrin heading out on their adventure i think it reads pretty normally. I understand if that beginning part is off putting tho.

And it very much is a fantasy series overall. Magic is common and all over...not everyone is human...there are schools of witchcraft and wizardry...etc and so forth.
