...How come she's only hired men to direct for her production company? She's really the only woman to direct for herself, lol.

Its actually a fair question. Didn’t she nearly drop out of the second Thor movie after Patty Jenkins left?

Are most of the films that are being commissioned to be made, of interest to women directors? Are male directors less choosy about what they direct? Males do all genres, women directors have been involved in different genres too, but perhaps most would rather take on a more serious or personal take on something. Popcorn mainstream entertainment needs to be churned out and keep the industry afloat, to help fund the more personal projects.
Even Patty Jenkins, who has helmed 2 WW films which is superhero blockbuster and has done a film about a female serial killer Monster, is directing films about women characters as the focus. Would she direct a superhero film if it wasn't WW? Would she have chosen to do something like Iron Man, (yes, I know he carked it) if it was presented before her? Hypothetical question I know, but Kimberly Pierce has done a drama, Boys Don't Cry about a girl who pretended to be a boy and a reboot of Carrie, about a girl with TK powers and now she is directing a film about a female health services activist.
The main question is, are female focused films the only ones they are being offered to do, or the only ones they are interested in, even if offered something different that isn't femme slanted? Are they wanting their cake and eat it too?

Well...It's a fair question to ask, if has been debated about earlier my apologies. I don’t know if it’s been debated about here in particular, but it’s come up a lot from other people like Rose McGowan and Ricky Gervais. There’s no need to apologize or anything. You’re free to post whatever you want. I just personally never saw this as a worthwhile thing to talk about.

Between Ratcatcher, We Need to Talk about Kevin and You Were Never Really Here, she's good. It's a shame she left.
