Shows I registered here February 18, 2017.
Does it still feel "weird" for anyone? Do you now prefer this to the actual real imdb?
I definitely do. The only thing I kinda of miss is that each actor/movie/tv show/whatever had its own board.

I miss the old IMDB Horror Board. Sadly the final few months it was completely overrun by trolls. I also miss how the old IMDB used to have movies with their own personal message boards - i.e. Friday the 13th Part V; Freddy vs. Jason, Twilight Zone (tv shows), etc etc - some ummmmmmm very entertaining posts used to be on those boards - even the most obscure bombs had their own boards

I do miss the individual boards for movies and TV shows. moviechat has those, but with the exception of big blockbuster movies there is very little activity.

I also miss the individual boards, but other than that, this place is cool.
Damn, I miss the Seinfeld board.

Haven't visited IMDb since. I deleted my IMDb account when it closed the boards. The only thing holding these boards back is the power tripping admin.

I remember how Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) board was split between 'Grandpa Joe was nice selfless man' vs 'Grandpa Joe was a filthy, lazy bastard' camps. People would discuss that topic ad nauseam for years and yet you won't get bored of reading those posts. You would also get some special info on high quality movie boards like on the boards of movies of directors like Luis Bunuel and Ingmar Begrman. I think my taste in movies changed forever after visiting those boards. Trolls were though always a problem on old IMDB. I remember gangs of trolls destroy boards. A famous DT invasion caused an exodus that made many members of Passion of Christ/Religion board leave IMDB to create a private board. The infamous Aussie troll Aye_lewis partnered along with DT to cause much trouble. One of the respected members once caught a whole gang of them laughing on another board about the success they had on IMDB. I think some of them were able to bully a few girls.

Before Lewis left IMDb for good, he was using the identity of a deceased person. That's how depraved he was.

I think he was impersonating a NY based Jewish photographer who had deceased a year before Lewis started impersonating him. I think by last it was pretty much out that Lewis was from Queensland Australia although he was a member of troll gang which had members from all over the world.

One IMDb member reached out to the family on Facebook to get confirmation. He deleted out of fear and never returned AFIK.

The only thing I kinda of miss is that each actor/movie/tv show/whatever had its own board. Don't know if you've been to the IMDB lately but it's gotten worse. The site is basically unusable. I wish someone would start up a new IMDB type website and run it like the old days of the IMDB. Easy to maneuver, forums, and stop making it so every idiot can get an IMDB page easily.

Went on a week or a couple weeks ago and couldn't recognize the site. Sad. And I remember them saying they would make a replacement for the boards. Surprise, surprise, that never happened.

Can't tell you how many times I posted a question I had about a particular film or tv show on one of those individual boards, and almost without exception, had an answer to it, usually within a day or two, and at worst, a few days, or maybe a week or so later on some of the lesser-visited boards. It's hard to explain just how incredibly valuable something like that was to somebody who never utilized it, but I still find myself hoping against hope that one day, out of the clear blue, Amazon will decide to allocate just a TINY portion of their BILLIONS in revenue to eventually "resurrecting" the old IMDb boards in all their former glory, just as if it had never gone away... I know, I know......and women of all (adult) ages, colors and creeds will suddenly find me irresistibly attractive, somebody will start paying me six figures a year for a job a monkey could do, and we'll all wake up from our national nightmare of the last few years, and realize none of it ever really happened....... I miss all the individual boards and wish things could be the way they were, before the troll invasion.

While I wouldn't go quite that far, I will say that sometimes I DO find myself wondering WTF, regarding some of their more absurd 'antics'..... SAVE FERRIS

Earliest postings I see are from the morning of Feb 3, 2018. But some earlier ones may be gone. I posted that day, but I don't think I was in the day of the Big Bang.

No. I do miss the some of the old Sports Board regulars who didn't make the transfer here or rarely post. Triple_Double, Beardy, Pops. BoSox, Strelnikoff (he left before the end), Sule, others who I've sadly forgotten. But the place was a sewer. There was a poster, Ben_Caesar who regularly doxxed users. And IMDb could do nothing about it. Users regularly complained and was told that nothing could be done. He was from Pakistan and could manipulate IP's. It's funny, he tried to infiltrate this place and was shot down quickly.

It's funny, he tried to infiltrate this place and was shot down quickly. Thankfully, I never experienced that......in fact I had to look up "doxxed", since I didn't even know what it is. But I honestly don't know what most people's problems are with trolls. YES, they are NOT enjoyable, and YES they are VERY annoying. But there's a very old, and (usually) VERY true adage that says, "Don't feed the trolls, and they will go away.....". Obviously, it doesn't always work in all situations........but it is AMAZING how effective that tactic CAN be over time when EVERYONE adheres to it...... SAVE FERRIS

Originally, I used IMDb more for the music page than the sports page and early on it was great. Then there was some girl there (Kelsey?) who just hounded one of the best members (Tafka-BingoMaster) until he quit. Soon after, it was a nightmare, and my posts starting being primarily on the sports page.
Don't miss the soccer/football arguments over there and the incessant debates of who was able to use what term (especially during the World Cup).

I prefer this forum because of certain features such as the ability to like posts and all, the thing that I miss about the old IMDB forums is that every movie-tv show-actor had their own board so there was a board for everything.

There could be some great discussions of individual films.
