The Saints need linebackers. AJ Kein left (he was getting kinda old). Anzaloni and Alonzo are good but they're injured all the time. Saints need linebackers.
Sean Payton always drafts wide receivers and offensive linemen. He'll probably draft one of each (he always does).
This year's draft is supposed to be deep with good wide receivers.

Kenneth Murray and Patrick Queen were popular choices for them in mocks. I'd guess they get 1 of them.

15 players picked in the 1rst round from the SEC. Almost half the players picked.
LSU had the most with 5.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire to Kansas City. That's a perfect fit. He's like Maurice Jones-Drew. Strong, fast, and quick. Good running back. Good blocker. And good pass reciever. (Might be too small to be a workhorse 20-30 carries a game.)

I don't know what happened to Jalen Hurts. For awhile, all we ever heard was Joe Burrow, Tua Tagliavoa and Jalen Hurts. Then recently all we were hearing was Burrow and Tagliavoa. I had to look up if Hurts had gotten hurt, or killed, or said he didn't want to play pro ball, or if he was even a senior.
Why did Hurst drop?

The Saints are out of picks. They had a first round pick. And they traded up for two third round picks.
No more draft picks this year for the Saints.
(They got a center, a linebacker and a tight end.)

Well well well. Things just got a little more interesting here. When everybody under the sun predicted they were going to coddle Wentz - and surround him with young weapons he can mold and in turn rid the team of an aging weapon who ripped him to shreds in the media - alshon jeffrey - they pull a 180 and bring in a QB who's arguably gotten the most publicity in college football over the past 4 years. Fascinating pick for a team that supposedly rid the team of Foles - to make it Wentz's team - so Wentz wouldn't feel threatened and know it was his team. Sports Radio is going to be fantastic here today

15 players picked in the 1rst round from the SEC. Almost half the players picked. LSU had the most with 5. It is by far and undeniably the best conference with the toughest competition. Would Clemson or ohio st even sniff at the playoffs if they played in the SEC? Hell no. Neither would survive the grind and in the unlikely scenario they somehow won enough games to make it to the conference Championship they would lose. The ACC is an embarrassing joke even if notre dame had the balls to join it wouldn't be much tougher. The big 10 is not as pathetic but still pretty much a one team conference where teams are prepared to lie down for ohio st or whoever has the best chance to make the playoffs. SEC should automatically get 2 teams in playoffs every season and let the teams in the other Power 5 conferences that are basically comprised of the equivalent of good high school teams from Florida, Georgia, Texas etc... and one solid college team battle for the other 2 spots. Every college football fan knows it's the right thing to do even if they won't admit it.

Sports Radio is going to be fantastic here today I'm guessing not every football fan in philly will be as happy as you are with the pick. Hurts kind of got screwed over by Saban and bama. I still sort of hate him but I also kind of hope he isn't a complete bust without getting philly to any other championships. That sound about right?

I wouldn't say I'm happy about it - but I find it intriguing beyond belief.
All signs pointed to Foles was given his walking papers because having him around as a backup would be a detriment to Wentz's ego - and they needed to get rid of him to make it clear to Carson (and the Foles contingent) that it was his team.
It still is his team. He's the QB present and future. No doubt. Maybe they strictly view Hurts as an insurance policy - i.e. like when Wentz went out the previous two playoffs - especially this past year vs. Seattle when we had to put Josh McCown in as QB.
I find it a fascinating situation as the media is ruthless here - curious to see how Wentz handles this. Sure he'll say and do all the right things (he's already welcomed him via Twitter) - but what's brewing underneath. Also - what happens if Hurts shows flashes - then starts chirping after a couple of years he should be starting somewhere - and what if the fans start chirping down the line they want Jalen as QB if he shows flashes - all signs point drama down the line.
Saying in life that competition is good - that's my attitude too - but it could also cause tension/drama/blow up a team/divide a lockerroom. Can Wentz handle it now? Signs pointed to he couldn't with Foles around - which is why they jettisoned Foles - so there was no extra drama and make it a point to everybody it was Wentz's team.
I'm also questioning if they have something up their sleeve - this is an odd draft thus far as far as trades - maybe a trade down the line?
Has Yannick been moved yet?
On a positive note - they nabbed a LB in the 3rd Round - a definite area of need.

You never know with QBs tho. While happy Foles is gone, will having a younger talented Championship winning QB also prey on Wentz's mind and hurt his ego as well? What happens if Foles has success with his new team and Wentz starts off cold with several losses? Will the not so patient philly fan base turn on him and call for an eager to prove his worth Hurts? Interesting and entertaining stirring of the pot to say the least.

And after them going in the first round, and Hurts going in the second, wouldn't it be great if Hurts had a long and successful career, and Burrow and Tagliavoa were bust? Why did Hurts drop?

People are saying Hurts will be used like Taysum Hill is used in New Orleans. Wentz will still be the quarterback.

People are saying Hurts will be used like Taysum Hill is used in New Orleans. Wentz will still be the quarterback. The problem with this line of thinking is Hill was an undrafted free agent if memory serves.
This was a 2nd Round Pick and we have numerous holes to fill.
That being said - I'm starting to like the pick - if - and that's a big if - Jalen knows his role as a backup.
That being said - I think we all know how this is going to end.
The kid is going to want to start somewhere eventually - and it's going to cause some major drama down the line - maybe not this year - but it's coming.
I'm intrigued. I can't wait to see him play. I loved watching him play at Oklahoma this year.
Going to be fun watching this story unfold over the next couple of years (if we get football back)

Another thing they are saying is, Wentz gets injured every year. Hurts better be ready to play.
