Who are your favorite active athletes not on one of your teams?
The more I think about it, the more I love Larry Fitzgerald and wish he was an Eagle. He does everything right and plays at a hall of fame level. As far as I know he never bitched about some of the dregs the Cardinals put out on the field. He’s basically the anti-Antonio Brown.
Mike Trout obviously.
I’m not as into basketball as some of you but I like Kawhi.

Mike Trout Freddie Freeman Ronald Acuna Jose Altuve (yeah, I know, sue me) Andrelton Simmons
Curtis Granderson just retired, otherwise he'd be a shoe-in for this list.

Steve Yzerman was my favorite non-Islander back in the day.

Steve Yzerman was my favorite non-Islander back in the day. If you look at the all-time single season points leaders, numbers 1 through 13 are all Gretzky and Lemieux. Number 14 is the first player other than them - Stevie Y.

Steve Yzerman was my favorite non-Islander back in the day. The list of favorite athletes not from my team back in the day is a mile long. For whatever reason I don't get too hyped about athletes in general these days unless they're on my team. I guess this ties into that thread from a while back about how much you care about sports as compared to when you were younger. I'm a basketball fan and the only non-Celtics (who aren't former Celtics) I find remotely interesting are Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic. As for football, some of the QBs are entertaining, other than that I couldn't care less. I'm not suggesting there aren't insanely talented players in those leagues, they just don't grab my attention as a fan. At this point, I don't know if I could name 10 current players in the NHL/MLB that don't play in Boston or for our division rivals. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but not by much.

I’d be hard pressed to name 10 current Flyers, let alone 10 players from other teams. I just stopped following hockey almost completely. My list of past athletes is a mile long too. I attribute that to being a kid, watching every game on tv, reading every box score in the sports section of the newspaper, fanatically collecting baseball cards and others sports cards, going to games. I feel like at the end of a work day I have two hours I can dedicate to all leisure activities. My weekends are valuable to me even if I’m not doing anything. It’s like I can’t make myself commit to anything other that like 2 football games a week.

Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger, Christan Yelich, Albert Pujols
Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid
Giannis, Luka Doncic and then it gets a bit fuzzy; used to be LeBron, AD, Cousins, KD - with Cousins' knees/body letting him down and mostly being over the others, they aren't quite guys I worry about much these days.

You're out on the 76ers and Phillies too? I’ve never followed basketball that closely even when I was a kid. Outside of 1982-83 and the year Iverson got to the finals I just don’t watch it. As for the Phillies, it’s been hard to watch the Kapler era but I’ll give Girardi a shot.

I love George Kittle but that's kind of cheating since I love him for being a former Hawkeye who are my college team. I love most former Hawkeyes. In regards to no connection that way, guys like Fitz and Julio Jones just have so much of my respect. Superstar wide receivers that dont love listening to the sound of their own voices. Josh Jacobs I like because of his story of being homeless as a child. Makes him an easy guy to root for and I hope he does well in his career.
For baseball I like Francisco Lindor. That dude was a delight to listen to mic'd up at the All Star game. Mike Trout, Matt Chapman both are great. For some reason no pitchers are coming to mind.
In regards to basketball I dont watch it but I root for certain players to do good like LeBron and Westbrook.

I'm a big Larry Fitzgerald fan also, but when Russell Wilson stepped aside to let Drew Brees start in the Pro Bowl it shot him to the very top of my "favorite player not on my team" list. The guy is 100% class!

Larry Fitzgerald, Luka Doncic, Ja Morant (despite him dissing Steph), Andrew McCutcheon. I actually like Brady at this point in his career.

I'd probly agree with Larry Fitzgerald. Hard not to like that guy.
Not active, but when he was, Troy Polamalu. He always seemed like a nice guy and he was just so much fun to watch.
Outside of Fitzgerald, now I'd say Mahomes, and maybe to a lesser degree Russell Wilson... and I always like and root for Aaron Rodgers even though this board despises him for no discernable reason.
