Earlier today, Trump pardoned former Niners owner Eddie Debartolo Jr for the bribery charge that got him kicked out of the NFL in 1998. Guys like Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, and Jim Brown were at the White House today to celebrate the decision, which many felt was a long time coming. Eddie D, who was BELOVED by his players was busted for offering $400,000 to New Orleans politicians for a riverboat gambling license.
Debartolo is a complicated guy, there were definite character issues, but he did build one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history, and was truly loved and respected by nearly every single player that played in San Francisco during that time. Calls for a pardon have been coming for many years now, and unlike Presidents Bush and Obama, Trump went ahead and got the job done (Sound familiar?)
So it seems like a cool thing done by Trump, but I know for many of you "Orange Man is evil", so I look forward to hearing how today's actions are just another example of how Trump is destroying America and all it stands for.

He also commuted the sentence of Blagojevich. Then you look at what Barr is doing under Trump's direct supervision and you have to ask how he's destroying the fabric of America? You complain about people bringing politics into sports, and half of your posts directly reference politics. You like Trump, I don't, and we're never going to come to an understanding on that topic. Why bother bringing it up on a sports board?

Why bother bringing it up on a sports board? And Michael Milken, perpetrator of one of the biggest Wall Street insider scandals ever concocted. I strongly recommend everyone read Den of Thieves, which goes into depth on the crimes committed by Michael Milken and his de-facto cohort, Ivan Boesky. It's the basis for the film Wall Street and it's just an excellent read that sheds a lot of light on the dark underbelly of the financial markets. Milken has done a lot for charity since getting his comeuppance so I'll give him that but it's an obvious ploy to get his backing in advance of an election. Nothing wrong with that unto itself, politics is politics, but it's worth noting that the people who were pardoned or had sentences commuted all seem to have some sort of place in, or connection to, the administration, whether directly or tangentially.

Why bother bringing it up on a sports board? Because he pardoned a former owner of a sports team who's in the NFL Hall of Fame. Seems sports related to me. And when have I ever complained about people bringing up politics? Matter of fact, when have I ever complained about ANYTHING that people bring up here? I have absolutely zero problems with any subject that is brought up, on any board. If I don't like a subject, or don't think it's "board worthy", I just don't bother with it. I don't feel I'm important enough to have a say in things that don't really concern me.

What is Eddie Debartolo's connection to the Trump administration? Eddie D had thrown pre-inauguration parties for people close to Trump, including Michael Cohen and Omarosa to name a few.

Ehhh, kind of reaching for something that ain't there, buddy. Just because Debartolo held a party that Omarosa was at, it doesn't necessarily mean that Eddie D is at the Oval Office helping to determine Mideast policy.

Pardon Charles Manson posthumously. He was a complicated guy with definite character issues. We are all complicated people. And we all have character issues. Based on what I've seen from your many posts over the years, you have issues as well. As do I.

Eddie D had Omarosa at a party, and because of that Eddie D gets a pardon 4 years later? And Trump feels like this is gonna secure California for him in November?? Pardoning Eddie Debartolo does nothing for Trump politically, he could pardon every Californian who's currently in prison, and he still won't win California.

Just read what I initially wrote, about there being connections, whether directly or indirectly. You asked a question about Eddie D, I answered you, you then responded by putting words in my mouth. If you don't like the answer, that's fine, but there's no need to get your feathers ruffled or be a total jackanape about it. It's the spoils system, you do for your friends.

Like in Gangs of New York, when McGloin "insults" Amsterdam by calling him a.....fidlammbens?
