We could see a brawl on Opening Day, though I don't know who the Astros open with.

He said Tuesday. Going to be a long season in Houston. And in the Commissioner's office.

What happened sucks, but all this tough talk is going to make you look like a wimp if you don't back it up, or make it look premeditated (and thus require a longer suspension) if you do go after them. Handle your business on the field, not in the media.

Here's the thing, it would so naive of us to sit here and think that the Astros and Red Sox were the only ones trying this type of stuff. Based on what you hear from former pro athletes in every sport, we'd have to guess that at least half of all pro teams are trying some sort of shady behaviors to get an edge and that's probably conservative. In games of inches, the slightest of edges count. In baseball, we have telescopic cameras, apple watches, vast means of instant communication, etc.
Where am I going with this....are the Astros to be absolved? Of course not. HOWEVER, it's only a matter of time before the Braves, or the Mets, or the Royals get roped into this controversy for using George Foreman grills as a means of finding out what Kershaw was throwing next, and then Markakis is going to get asked about what should happen to him and his teammates. In other words, the players need to pipe down with this fire and brimstone talk because they're going to find themselves trapped in these situations before long and there's no way I'll believe that they weren't aware of it either.
Just to be clear, the fact that every one is doing it doesn't make it OK and excuse the team(s) that gets caught. I personally don't care as much as others about this scandal, even though it makes MLB look like a bunch of clowns, but the hypocrisy of some of these players is astounding.

This is starting to make me sick. Everyone now wraps themselves into righteous fury and sets themselves up as judge, jury and executioner. And the act like the fucking kidnapped the Lindbergh baby. Quit pretending you are so fucking holy. Seen asshats saying that Astros should be regularly thrown at. Great, it's the 100th anniversary of Ray Chapman this season. Maybe we could relive it.
It happened. It's over. Make sure that if it happens again, severe punishments are handed out. And move on

I think a lot of players feel the same, and now they have a reason to do just that. It is funny that you didn't see this many players make such a fuss during the steroid days. Makes me think that maybe there weren't that many teams doing what the Astros did, but there were a WHOLE LOT of guys doing steroids. Just a thought.

I'm wondering if there is another shoe to drop here as well. At the same time, I'd think that every sportswriter in each city that has a baseball team has been working on this story for awhile now, trying to be the one that gets his or her name some national attention by uncovering the Pirates scandal or Angels use. The fact that nothing has come up yet may be a sign that it isn't as ubiquitous as we could potentially fear.

If he were a pundit/sportswriter/panelist type, sure, and of course if it were a Twitterererer or other quotidian "asshat" like you've all seen running their mouths and whatnot, I'd understand, but Markakis is a player and a veteran one who's really earned his platform from which to speak to all things baseball. Not everyone spends at least part of their time getting practice quantifying and qualifying their feelings about things like we asshats do here on the interwebz. Markakis is angry. Cheating spits in the face of baseball, his game, America's pastime. You're reading all sorts of things that I don't see as being there. Furious? Yes. Righteous? No.

It was the people who are advocating throwing a baseball at nearly 100 mph at a person's head.

I understand that; it's why I aligned that characterization with Tweeters or other run of the mill internet mouths. Don't you think it's possible you just have burnout from those types being everywhere with their righteous fury? I think a player is different. To me, Markakis seems genuinely upset, not trying to be holy or superior.

A lot of men express upset that way. I doubt he was ever encouraged to feel he could say This is upsetting. ETA: He's literally trying so hard not to let tears down his face here: imdb2.freeforums.net/post/3684441/threadThat's not arrogance or being holier than thou, that's emotion. TheGoodMan19

I'm trying to have HBP get points in our fantasy league. I have Bregman as my franchise keeper from last year.
