One of several tough-guy actors who came from well-to-do backgrounds. Bruce Dern and Bogie were too.

A link re: Lee movie quotes pointblankbook.com/lee-marvin-movie-quotes-the-early-years Rather startling to see the first image there as it is one that I photographed off the TV and submitted to IMDb for The Caine Mutiny page … it has weird color and lines but they finally accepted it and now it's been pinched but put to good use . same pic as that posted above with Meatball and Horrible

Duel At Silver Creek (1952). Sitting across a card table from Audie Murphy: Marvin: When are you going to start shaving? Murph: When you learn to play poker.

Also was great in my personal favorite Twilight Zone episode, "The Grave". A great one! It also has Lee Van Cleef, Strother Martin, and James Best.

I read a Playboy interview with Lee Marvin back in the late 60s. He said his reaction to being shot on Saipan was "I f----ed up!" It was the first time I ever saw that word in print.
