Apparently, within the last few days, ProBoards made a small change to their system-wide main forum software, which is now affecting (all?) of their forums...
Every page now tries to load this javascript file:
storage . proboards . com / forum / js / proboards . combined_986 . js
When you "Right Click" on the page and select "View Page Source"... You can see the coding for the file towards the top of the page,
I'm not sure what the file is supposed to do, but it is very large file...
And the webpage won't display it's data... until it "tries" to load the page.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a strange problem... At least for me ...in that the file won't fully load!
Perhaps that may be... because I have an extremely slow internet connection... and... Perhaps the file is "timing out" on the server?
I've even tried downloading the file, directly, and it won't download it completely... To make things worse, when I refresh the "File", it tries to start all over, and it re-tries to download the file from scratch (and fails to complete again).
But, that is not all...
Some functions on the forum, don't appear to be working...
Collapsing Categories on the Main Page... Text Formatting on Creating Threads...
And that's may be just for starters...
I know it's a long shot...
But is anyone else having similar problems?
Does anyone know of a way to get the file to fully download?
EDIT:
Using CHROME Now...
But I'll try a couple of other browsers to see if I can get the file to fully download.

Using a "Download Accelerator", I was able to succesfully download the file to my computer's Hard Drive...
That ONE JavaScript file is: 1.92 MBs!
That's Ridiculous!
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to completely load, just that file, from the ProBoards URL Link I noted in my previous post, into any web browser... It keeps failing...
Oddly, it keeps timing out at different intervals...
I need several minutes, but it won't go that long...

I also didn't see anything about this from other users. It is most likely either your connection, browser, or their server. You may want to go directly to the horse's mouth on this one. support.proboards.com/board/44/support-boardIf I get the time, I'll look into it a little further. I know they implemented SSL recently so it may be related to that.

Don't Laugh... But I still Use Dial-Up.
Yeah, I know... "No One Uses That Anymore"!
That's probably why no one else is having problems...
I'd dump Dial-Up, but... AT&T is supposed to be Ending Landline service across the USA this year, and I don't know what long lasting services will be available to me, until then... In addition, Win-7 is now End-Of-Life, with Window 10 being forced on me in my near future...
Long Story Short... Too much change, all at once, to plan well in the short term, and I want to wait until the "Last Minute" to get equipment that will work over the long term...
So, yeah, I'm sitting on Win-7 & Dial-up, for now, until I get THE word from AT&T...
However, As I said...
1.) The file won't completely download... 2.) The file won't "resume" the download, when I try to reload it... It starts over...
Is there a "TCP" Setting, or something like: TTL (Time To Live), that I can change, that will "Keep The Download Going"?

Damn, dial-up in the year 2020!? ; even 10-15 years ago dial-up was pretty damn bad. it seems like you could get some level of decent internet access. if you got a smart phone with unlimited data you can probably tap into it's data as some smart phones seem to allow setting up a WiFi thing so any of your devices that can use a standard WiFi connection can tap into it. that would be a lot better than dial-up which is basically 6KB/s MAX. even a really slow DSL connection will wipe the floor with that as it's probably at least 40KB/s. hell, my internet is nothing special (it's pretty safe to say my internet line is slower than most people and I suspect it's a lot slower than many modern internet connections straight up) and it's at least 67 times faster than your line and I am assuming your at 6KB/s which you might be around 5KB/s as if your 5KB/s I am basically 80-ish times faster and my line is quite slow compared to a typical modern-ish internet line. p.s. hell, your internet is so slow... just installing uBlock Origin (by Raymond Hill) on your browser (Firefox/Chrome) will probably give you a decent speed bump due to the crap it filters which on a decent internet line it might not be all that noticeable but since your internet is extremely slow, it might give a noticeable speed increase in website loading. Agreed. but the thing is almost no one should be using dial-up in today's world unless they have ZERO choice as that's beyond ancient as even 10-15 years ago dial-up was quite bad as dial-up was pretty much died by the early-to-mid 2000's. in my area we had hi-speed internet in the year 2000 (I have been online since 1995). the modern internet just requires too much bandwidth for dial-up to be usable and load stuff within a reasonable time frame. hell, even 500KB of web page data, which I imagine many sites use comfortably more than that, would take you a minimum of 83 seconds to initially load and could be closer to 100 seconds (i.e. 1min10sec). but ill give you this... you must be a VERY patient person to deal with dial-up on the modern internet p.s. sorry for the novel

Some still images, gifs and avatars won't load. I thought it was a problem at my end. Until I used the mobile version. My mobile uses a different internet connection and a different browser. Yet still there's a problem with images loading. Not everytime though.

Thank you. HTTPS… I wouldn't have noticed that. I won't be able to anything about other people's images, but if my images are from sites that won't load, I can always upload them to Postimage which is secure.

I never could figure out how to get that "messed up" file to download...
Thankfully, they recently made a change again, and now their various forums are using this file: proboards.combined_1026.js , and it seems that I can completely download that file, since the forums appear to be fully working for me again.
Let's hope it stays that way for a long while.
