Are there any movies that you once believed were directed by someone other than said film's actual director?
Some examples where I've mistaken directors are:
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors - Wes Craven (actually directed by Chuck Russell)
Groundhog Day - Ivan Reitman (actually directed by Harold Ramis)
The Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton (actually directed by Henry Selick)
12 Years a Slave - Spike Lee (actually directed by Steve McQueen)

The Nightmare Before Christmas isn't directed by Tim Burton. I literally only found this out last year. Mind blown.

Also The Nightmare Before Christmas for me.
I used to think Con Air was a Micheal Bay film but its actually Simon West.

This often happens when they advertise a movie with the producer's name.
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
James Cameron's Strange Days (actually directed by Kathryn Bigelow)
Or when the producer's name overshadows the director's:
V For Vendetta - I always think about it as a Wachowski movie, even though it was directed by James McTeigue
Dredd - officially directed by Pete Travis but screenwriter/producer Alex Garland was heavily involved.
I also assumed that Spielberg directed some episodes of The Pacific himself, but he was only the producer on that series.

The Insider was directed by Michael Mann, but I sometimes find myself thinking it is a Ridley Scott production.

Poltergeist - Tobe Hooper (but depending on who you listen to, it looks like Steven Spielberg directed it)

Poltergeist - Tobe Hooper (but depending on who you listen to, it looks like Steven Spielberg directed it) I strongly suspect this to be the case. The movie feels very "Spielbergian".

Up until a couple of years ago, I would have bet my life Kevin Bacon directed Wild Things. He did executive produce it.

Hacksaw Ridge: I would have thought Clint Eastwood, not Mel Gibson.
