The title says it all: Why is there a constant war between Marvel and DC? I just don't understand it. Many DC fans tear apart Marvel movies before they have even come out and the same goes for Marvel fans. Both sides use ridiculous reasons to trash movies like The Avengers or The Dark Knight. Why don't people base their opinion on the movie instead of on the fact if it's a Marvel or a DC movie?
Edit: I'm neither a Marvel or a DC fan, I'm just a fan of great movies. Both Marvel and DC have made amazing movies, like The Dark Knight trilogy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier & The Avengers.

So it's so much for fun for people to be an asshole and make an competition out of everything.
That being said, I consider the The Dark Knight Trilogy to be highly overrated and prefer some of the MCU films over it, but I don't like every Marvel film and I'm certainly no fanboy of them. However, no superhero films have ever topped Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series for me.

Not all fans, but an outspoken core group.

DC did not make the Dark Knight trilogy. That was WB and Nolan. DC has only made Man of Steel, BvS, and Suicide Squad. Somehow, though, DC fans like to praise this trash. That might be where it begins.

It's the fanboy equivalent of a duel or a match if you will, a conflict elevated to the point where it becomes a matter of honor. If one concedes or is defeated, it's a banner of shame and humiliation. Quite fascinating really.

because it's people, and people have preferences, but some people take things......like fucking comic brands.........too seriously, just like you have people beating up one another over sports teams.

That, and Heath Ledger's "you-know-what" made critiquing the movies a deeply unpopular thing to do at the time.

Both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises are critically acclaimed movies too and Heath Leger isn't in those. Yes, both have their very vocal haters but the majority considers them good movies and it has nothing to do with competition. To claim that TDK is listed as one of the greatest comic book movie ever made by countless lists because of the death of Heath Ledger is a desparate claim based on a subjective opinion. Let's not forget that Iron Man came out the same year and both are considered great movies in the genre.

Begins WAS a good film, though I think Nolan didn't do a good job making the movies about Batman. It was more about the villains than him. And frankly we'll never know how the Dark Knight would've been received if Ledger hadn't died. I found the movie to be less than stellar, though that's not a safe opinion to have.

I wish people would chill out on the rivalry a bit and keep it friendly. Was never a comic book fan, so maybe I don't get the depth of the rivalry.
I worked in a bookstore for a brief period with a huge comics section and witnessed a lot of dialogue between fans of both. It was a lot more civil than the internet's reaction to the movies that come out these days. So many people seem to be totally prepared to bash something without seeing it. In the internet age, this actually can have an effect on how something performs. It's my feeling that stuff like this leaves us with more mediocre movies that are more concerned with playing it safe than taking a chance.
I like Batman, but am not particularly interested in Superman. Didn't know anything about Iron-man, but really liked what I saw. Watchmen and Guardians of the Galaxy were two entities I was completely unfamiliar with and found to be entertaining viewings. There seems to be different tones to Marvel and DC, but I've never seen any reason to discriminate as much as people do.
If we want good movies, I think it's a good idea to realize that the right hand washes the left. If they both succeed, the viewers end up winning.

Begins is far more about Batman/Bruce Wayne than it is the villains and TDKR is equally about both. TDK is the only one that is argueably more about the villains. I am one of the people who loves TDK and I just think the Ledger thing is a convenient cop out that the detractors can use against the film's acclaim. I mean, what do you use against all the other highly acclaimed movies out there that you think are overrated? Giving the movie a pass because of Legder is one thing, hailing it as a genre masterpiece becasue of Ledger is quite another. All I know is that I love the movie and Ledger's death doesn't play into the reason.

I like both Marvel and D.C.
On the Dark knight trilogy i liked Batman begins the most and how they showed us how batman was born plus Christian Bale looked very handsome in it and its his best performance in the character.
I don't think The Dark knight is beloved because of Heath Ledger's death but i think his performance as the joker had a lot to do on why people love this film and there is nothing wrong with it a complex tragic villain is always a magnet in any action flick and often they steal the show. Most of the acclaimed Bond films are the ones with the best Villains probably the only exception Is the spy who loved me but outside of it all the most praised Bond flicks had very iconic villains with interesting motives.
The only thing I don't like in Batman begins is Katie Holmes as Rachel she doesn't give me the vibe of a fierce Lawyer DA too sweet to play a part like. that.
From DC I also enjoyed suicide squad very much even if the enchantress was a horrible villain but the squad was pretty fun with Margot Robbie being the big star as Harley Queen
From Marvel I loved the Iron man trilogy and the character. I'm not a fan of spider Man but I'm looking forward to Spider Man homecoming because Iron Man/Tony Stark will be in it. Marvel couldn't have picked a better actor for that character they stroke gold with Downey Jr. His charisma, sense of Humor, confidence and playing cool is just perfect. There are actors who are born for certain parts and Robert Downey Jr was for this character just like Hugh Laurie As Dr House, Sean Connery as James Bond, Marlon Brando as Don Corleone, Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.

The Dark Knight trilogy was a great series, honestly. However, as I stated, it was not made by DC. DC is terrible at making movies. Anyone who says otherwise (DC Fan) is trolling. The MCU is WAY better. I say this as an unbiased observer. I like DC. Batman is the best superhero, IMO. I like a lot of DC characters. I also love the X-Men, but that is not MCU either so it goes the same way. If you are comparing the DCEU and the MCU and you like the DCEU better, then you are a troll or a moron (most likely both). There is just no way.

It's stupid, as a fan of both, I'm just happy to enjoy a steady stream of good adaptations. I grew up reading both and never had a preference I suppose.
