I think I speak for all of us when I say who the hell is Clive cussler? A few people know who he was. I read a couple of his adventure books years ago and they were enjoyable.

R.I.P.
Loved his Dirk Pitt series. Isaac Bell is pretty good too. Never got into the Fargo or Kurt Austin ones.

Quick refresher for everyone. This....
...was based off one of his books. Highly recommend both the movie and the book!

Was only listening to John Barry's score for Raise The Titanic the other day.

Another film based on one of his books: Never seen it but apparently it would had been cheaper to lower the Atlantic.

One of my very favorite writers when I was a teen. Dirk Pitt was like an American James Bond of the high seas. I had many favorites in the series, but 'Cyclops' was my favorite. Too bad the 'Raise the Titanic' movie failed to capture any of the tension and excitement of the book.

Another film based on one of his books: Never seen it but apparently it would had been cheaper to lower the Atlantic. I saw this when first released one Sat morning when I was a kid. Wasn't looking to be to enthralled, because I had heard what an expensive flop it was and boring also. I ended up being very engaged by the whole thing. Have seen on vhs as well, but the cinema experience was well worth it. Big name critics could always make or break a film in those days and could be very unfair.

Is that the author whose books are written with other people, like how James Patterson does?

His thriller novels, many featuring the character Dirk Pitt, have reached The New York Times fiction best-seller list more than 20 times. Cussler was the founder and chairman of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA), which has discovered more than 60 shipwreck sites and numerous other notable underwater wrecks. He was the sole author or lead author of more than 80 books.
The two expensive movies based on his novels have been mega flops.

Is that the author whose books are written with other people, like how James Patterson does? Yes, he started doing that several years ago, though he started off on his own.

Raise the Titanic sounds like a bore, so I get that. Then I read about the exorbitant cost overruns with Sahara.
