variety.com/2020/film/news/steven-spielberg-indiana-jones-5-james-mangold-harrison-ford-1203515698/Well, that really bums me out. Now Disney has officially ruined this franchise too. An Indy movie without Spileberg directing is not an Indy movie. All those worthless clowns had to do was keep Ford, keep Spielberg, and let a screenwriter work on a script that satisfied both of them. But they couldn't even manage that. He almost certainly left because he didn't like their vision for this movie. You'd think the Star Wars fiasco would've taught them a lesson. No Spielberg. No watch.

PERIOD. He's an even more important part of the recipe than Harrison Ford. As a matter of fact he's the singular most important element!
I would totally watch an Indiana Jones movie by Spielberg with Indy recast with another actor. But no Spielberg? uh uh

Spielberg was truly done with Indy after Last Crusade. He has even said so in an interview. He only did Crystal Skull out of loyalty to Lucas.

For me, it HAD to be Spielberg as director and Ford as the star. Honestly, I was hesitant to embrace an Indy movie without Lucas because his ideas are really what made Indy and Star Wars what they were, even if those ideas didn't quite work out in later years.

I think he's too worried about his West Side Story film. It'll probably be one of the biggest flops of his career.

He did direct Crystal Skull, which was terrible. The movie will suck either way.

I love Baby Driver; he's so cute and talented which I still believe even though The Goldfinch fell flat, but I don't see how he's gonna work as Tony. Sorry, I should just start calling him Ansel Elgort, for the sake of clarity.

Thanks for the movie news. I agree with the people on here saying something to the effect of The Last Crusade was the last good Indy.

There wasn't much left that could be done with Disney as the anchor.

Unfortunately yes, probably one of the most unneeded remakes ever. I realize it is a stage play, but the '61 film is pretty definitive so I'll call it a remake.
