I think the final showdown should've had more screen-time, yet I understand because QT surely had to trim a ton already for the Crazy 88's.
I like Vol. 1, I prefer Vol. 2, I think both are better within days of each other's viewing.

Vol 2 is better in my mind...
-Vol 1 = 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) -Vol 2 = 6.5-7/10 (within my Top 154 movies)
I think Vol 1 is more action based where as Vol 2 is less about the action and more about the characters etc.
but in the past both movies peaked at a 9/10 for me as both movies were strong movies for me for years...
Dec 2013... -Vol 1 = 9/10 to a 5/10 (so that was a rather large hit and shifted to Thumbs Down status) -Vol 2 = 9/10 to a 8/10
Oct 2016... -Vol 2 = 8/10 to a 6.5-7/10 (since Vol 1 is a Thumbs Down it's no longer worth re-watching. so I did not see it here.)
May 2019... -Vol 1 = 5/10 to a 6/10 (I decided to give it another chance and I mildly like it. I generally don't give movies another chance once something reaches a 5/10 or less, but this one paid off) -Vol 2 = 6.5-7/10 (so it's score remained steady)
When I bottom line QT's movies that stand out, for me it's just...
1)Django Unchained (2012) - 7.5-8/10 2)Pulp Fiction (1994) - 7/10 3)Kill Bill Vol 2 (2004) - 6.5-7/10 4)The Hateful Eight (2015)
there are more I mildly like but only the four above stand out to be among my favorite movies in general.

Coincidentally, I watched both Vol 1 and Vol 2 last night. Yes, Vol 1 is an amazing, fast-paced, beautifully shot Tarantino flick.
