How do you prefer to sleep, on your back, on your side, or on your stomach? Do you prefer a small or a big pillow? I am currently trying to get used to sleeping on my back or on my side, but it is not easy.

That´s always good. If only I could say the same. Moderation and variation is the way to go.

I used to be almost exclusively on my back but somewhere along the way in recent years I developed the habit of sleeping on my side.

Sometimes my side, sometimes my stomach. I toss and turn a lot.

"In some odd and twisted position under and over dogs and cats" was not an option?

Catman lies on his side until forced onto his back by Xander who wants to lie on his chest and purr.

I mostly sleep on my sides.
I find if I try to sleep on my stomach, I want my face to be pointing straight ahead, which means it will be directly into the pillow, and then I can't breathe. So I don't do that. However, If I really must lay on my stomach, I'll put the pillow under my upper chest, and neck, and let my head have over the top of the pillow. But I really don't find sleeping on my stomach all to comfortable.
I don't mind sleeping on my back, that is... Until my saliva starts running down the back of my throat, and I wake up coughing my lungs out. Now, I have become worried that I might choke/drown/Whatever too. So I really try not to do this.
Sometimes I may sleep at about a 45 degree angle... part on my back, part on my side.

On my side. I have always positioned myself in that manner, especially since I was a kid. I was told sleeping on your stomach helped if you had a bellyache, and sleeping on your back adjusted your vertebrae due to an injury (lumbar support?). I'm not entirely sure if that's true nowadays but, I suppose it depends on how you feel and what you're accustomed to. Besides, sleeping on your side is the best bet, especially if you tend to drool.

On my left side. I need a new mattress though. Mine is developing the indentation in the middle.

"isn't he beautiful?" - Yes, lovely avatar!
I successfully slept on my side last night (yay - lol), but it is not easy when/if one has been used to sleep on the stomach for many years.

I used to sleep on my stomach until I hurt my neck, now I sleep on my side Yes, that' s My situation as well! I had to buy a special pillow which prevents you from sleeping on your stomach as well. Painful buseiness and I wish that I had known This ten years ago.
