I thought you were talking about a remake of that delightful Jim Carrey movie I did too! I didn't even think of the Eric Stoltz/Cher movie Mask, just automatically thought of The Mask. politicidal, did you know these toys/comic books? I knew He-Man, Voltron, Thundercats and who knows what else, but I didn't know any M.A.S.K.

I guess they figure it's a formula guaranteed to make money. Maybe they'll go the ridiculous route vis a vis TMNT and have fun with it. Man, the writer of that piece you linked really throws around terms like "long-awaited" and "iconic". Pffft. Oh, V.E.N.O.M. is the enemy group, it says. I thought that was a G.I. Joe thing; I remember that much.

Wasn't there supposed to be some cinematic toy universe with these properties?
I played with M.A.S.K. as a kid, alas probably not for more than a few months. They were cool but Transformers had endless individual characters, which was more than just vehicles & whatever.

It was supposed to include Jem, Gi Joe, Transformers and Battleship if I remember correctly.

My little brother had some of those toys. Never thought they'd need to make a film adaption 30+ years later.

M.A.S.K. the poor man's Gi Joe-Transformers.
DIC sucked. Sunbow knew how to do cartoons.
At the end of the show a little girl would say "Dick" over the credits.
