Summer like weather Sunday. Oncoming cyclist racing along on the sidewalk, dog in tow on a leash running along side taking up the whole f'n show. I'd seen them coming down the ways, & I thought for sure as most cyclists do, would be on the grass avoiding pedestrians, with his f'n dog too no less. I was checking at my device, audio & my clock, when they barreled by nearly taking me out. I caught glimpse of his expression & he actually seemed shocked that I was in their way. F'n maroon.

People across the continents and many cultures say the same thing about cyclists. What exactly is their problem? It seems they think they own the footpath. There could be an 84 page thread about it. Toronto has been having the conversation about it for more than a decade now, as more bicycle lanes open. Cyclists have got to start obeying the rules of the road. Just as a lot of pedestrian deaths could be jaywalkers, I'd have to imagine significant numbers of cyclist fatalities could've been avoided by not thinking they're invincible. I'm basing that on what I've seen with my own eyes, close calls & whatnot.

Cyclists are definitely the worst. Was discussing this earlier in the thread but was saying I've had situations were I've been out running, moved out on to a road to avoid multiple walkers taking up the full pavement, then cyclists have come past in a row. Some are fine, move further out into the road to make space, but others will doggedly hold their line and shout at me!
I think it's just the militant aggressive lyrica types missing their daily battles with cars and not being able to thump their fists down on bonnets and scream at drivers...

Thought this was interesting on the BBC:- www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52524001"Meanwhile, a French doctor has claimed new tests on samples from patients show the virus was present in the country last year - weeks before the first officially recorded case." "Yves Cohen told broadcaster BFMTV that his team had revisited negative tests for flu and other coronaviruses on 24 patients who had been in hospital with respiratory symptoms in December and January. "Of the 24 patients, we had one positive result for Covid-19 on 27 December when he was in hospital with us," he said, adding that the test had been repeated several times to confirm the result. Dr Cohen said he had reported the case to the regional health authorities and called for other negative tests from the same period to be re-examined."

Well I'm wondering 🤔 Carl LaFong probably remembers, I had very bad flu before or after Christmas. I was sick as fuck, could barely move, thought I was dying at one point... Here's the thing, this was just before all this started, and my taste buds changed, I couldn't stomach cider all of a sudden, the taste made me feel sick. I switched to red wine. Took months, but now I can drink cider again, and find red wine difficult, as I used to before. I'm wondering if that was the virus rather than flu in retrospect... I've never had taste change with flu before 🤷♀️ Guess I'll never know.

I was dismissing it in my mind at that time thinking they were just misinterpreting heavy flu but who knows...

I had it from my 'flu', and now it is known to be a covid symptom.

A new study in Germany concludes that about 1.8 million Germans have already contracted the Wuhan-virus, and thus the death rate is actually that of a severe flu. Studies in the US came already to the same conclusion. www.uni-bonn.de/news/111-2020

Didn’t realise that’s why you’d switched to wine though. loss of the sense of smell is a common symptom of CV-19 infection and, of course, smell and taste are intimately connected, so .... How did you smell during the period? Don’t reply “terrible”! We’ve all heard that one.

Had the Government shielding people on the phone this morning asking me if I needed anything, then get a phone call from my Warfarin department telling me they can't get a nurse out to me to take my blood and I'm okay to go to the Hospital for one. Mixed messages I think.

A new study in Germany concludes that about 1.8 million Germans have already contracted the Wuhan-virus, and thus the death rate is actually that of a severe flu. Studies in the US came already to the same conclusion. www.uni-bonn.de/news/111-2020 These are just studies and a bunch of them are coming. Here's some actual reported stat Japan - 4 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 333 per Km 2) South Korea - 5 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 517 per Km 2) China - 3 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 145 per Km 2) ....................... UK - 423 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 274 per Km 2) Italy - 481 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 200 per Km 2) Spain - 544 Covid-19 related deaths per million (population density 93 per Km 2) Even if you dismiss China's figures you still have Japan and S Korea who managed 100 times less deaths per million of population than many countries of Europe. And Japan and S Korea have higher population density than those countries. Given that your articles are now claiming absurdly high infection rates among the population, it is expected that the same infection rate is prevalent world over. So how is that countries that have shown more effort to contain the virus are showing 100 times less deaths per million? The answer is that the infection rate projected by these unproven studies are false and far fetched. The countries that took things seriously have low infections and that's why low deaths per millions. The countries that have disregarded precautions have more infections and thus more deaths. For example, the stupid PM of UK was going around shaking hands with everyone even when it was warned by doctors not to do so. All this proves is that western countries made light of this virus and they paid with high death tolls. The answer is very simple. These articles that you post are nonsense. Europeans and Americans showed disregard for containing virus and they paid for it. Japanese and Koreans (the role models for world) showed exemplary intelligence and eagerness to fighting against Corona and they succeeded. Hats off to S Korea. They had a plan. Troll country UK even abandoned its initial plan and some other countries looked dismayed.

Yes, the fact that European countries kept their borders open for too long may be a big reason why the crisis became so big over there. I have to quote was I have just quoted...god... -------------------------------------------------------- I DO NOT CLAIM THAT JAPAN COVERS ITS NUMBERS UP (OR KOREA - OR AUSTRLIA AND NEW ZEALAND): AS MATTER OF FACT I BROUGHT THESE COUNTRIES FORWARD AS OPEN ADN WELL INTEGRATED DEMOCRACIES.
I won't quote myself for a third time. As for Australia: a nice example, why your density numbers are pure bullshit. Australia has a huge area and a rather low population, ergo its density is low, and it is sparsely populated. But what really matters is the degree of urbanization. Australia's population is not spread equally over the area of the country, but highly concentrated in a few areas: Sydney, Melbourne and a few other large cities. If you hit these few centers, you will hit Australia.
