Landed in Miami today for the weekend. Going to hunt down Xeliou66. Kidding. Maybe.... Woke up at 7:30am, had a shitty sandwich at about 10:00am, then didn’t eat until just now, about 9:30 pm. Not feeling especially great. I was in Miami for a conference 3 weeks ago. You're lucky, Covid doesn't exist in South Florida!......

Anyone want to share how things are where you are? I'm having a booster tomorrow. Trying not to overreact - with suggestions that Omicron, while wildly infectious, typically results in milder symptoms - but all the cancellations in sports alone make you wonder about where we're headed in the next few days and weeks. Cases are on the rise everywhere, the hospitalizations are the unvaccinated. For the life of me I can't understand the cancelations. "Some people don't want to wear seatbelts. So we've decided nobody should drive cars anymore." My family is vaccinated, and I'm still stuck wearing asks, seeing business plummet and watching live events being canceled until kingdom come due to the sheer ignorance of other people. We're screwed because the media is still trying to scare the unvaccinated, and it's having the opposite effect, sending fully vaccinated liberals into a frenzy and causing shutdowns. Unvaccinated Omicron cases might overwhelm the healthcare system, or so they say. Frankly if you can't force people to get the vaccine, you should tell hospitals to tell the unvaccinated to fuck themselves when they show up...but I guess that's why I'm not a healthcare worker. Anyway good luck to those of us with common sense, it'll be another season of empty stadiums and canceled concerts. Maybe by spring they'll have approved those covid treatment drugs and we can finally move on. Kind of amazing to think of how many ways the brainwashed masses are ruining the world for intelligent people right now.

I had my booster a few weeks ago and it hit me like a ton of bricks. The first shot I was exhausted, basically slept for the remainder of the day after getting it; the second shot I felt no reaction whatsoever. But the booster, hot damm, it felt like I got hit by a car for about 24 hours. Here in NY, positive tests are on the rise which makes sense given the colder weather forcing people indoors and holidays putting people together en masse. It's not a shocker when you factor those things together, coupled with the still-insane-fucking-amount-of-idiots who think vaccines are part of a deep state conspiracy. Just over the past week, I've received many calls from people that I have been in contact with, both at work and at various holiday parties, indicating that they, or someone in their immediate family, have tested positive. At my gym holiday party last week, I received calls from 6 different people who were there that have since tested positive. One of them is in the hospital with severe symptons....that person was not vaccinated. The rest were all vaccinated and unboosted, but were totally fine. I got tested on Friday and I came up negative, so the boosters definitely work. The upshot being that omicron seems vastly more contagious but also much less severe. Of course, if you're unvaccinated, all bets are off as to how you'll react. For me, however, I'm having heart surgery in early January. It's not major surgery, but if I test positive at all, I can't get the procedure done. So other than going to the in-laws on Friday night, I'm trapped in my home for the next few weeks. Hey, hope all goes well with the surgery...if you survive the in laws!

Hey, hope all goes well with the surgery...if you survive the in laws! Thanks buddy Best of luck Pal. Hope all goes smoothly and wish you a speedy recovery! Hit my house last week. Both of my kids tested positive while my wife and I tested negative. Kids had almost no symptoms, just a slight cough. We only got them tested as my daughter was deemed a close contact. They are perfectly fine, thank God. The crappy part is we are supposed to go Florida for Christmas to see family. The wife and I are getting tested again tomorrow as we'll be in that 5-7 day range. If negative, we go. If positive, can't go see my mom who has a stent in her heart and dad who has lost a kidney to cancer.

“Heart surgery” and “not major surgery” would seem contradictory at first glance… In any case, I hope everything goes well!
The number of daily new COVID cases here in Quebec is higher than it has ever been (yes, including the height of the first and second waves). The government is introducing new restrictions, such as reducing capacity in restaurants and entertainment venues, and closing dance clubs again.
I don’t think I will be eligible for the booster shot before the New Year. I have a trip to California scheduled for mid-January, but who know what’s going to happen by then. I hope I don’t have to quarantine when I get back.
My sister got COVID, probably at her workplace. One of her co-workers got it after an outbreak at her daughter’s school. By the time she got tested and received the positive result, two other people in the office had been infected as well (including my sister). Fortunately all three had been vaccinated and none of them had any serious symptoms.

Getting the 3rd shot wednesday (essential worker, which is why I'm getting it faster than others except the elderly).
Measures are taken right and left to try to contain Omicron but it seems to be blazing through the population like a wildfire on dry weed.
Talking about Québec too.

Ontario... where we fill out pages of online portal jargon only to be shown yellow pages of pharmacy phone numbers. Or you could just google them yourself. The pharmacy I got my 2nd in June isn't even answering their phone lols... no doubt they've not nearly enough jabs for the demand yet.
My region isn't letting under 50's queue up yet, that should change in January. I probably just need a booster by mid Feb.
As for lockdowns... it's not that Omicron is more deadly, it's not... it's that numbers are doubling over 3 days here now, & the rate will push deaths up.
I f'n defy Major League Baseball to cancel games because of their economics.

Well, I now have 2.5 doses of vaccine in me. Yup, you read that right, 2.5 and not 3. So I went as scheduled to the vaccination center (Palais des Congrès - Jep will know), went through the lines, gave all the info, got my paper for my vaccination booklet, waited until I got a spot, gave my info to the vaccinator, sat down, got the shot and that's where things didn't go as planned. Back when I had my first and second shots (december 2020 and april 2021), the vaccinators were actually handling the vaccine vials, so they had to pull the right quantity themselves and they could adjust if needed. Fast forward to today, what they have right now is pre-filled syringes on which there is a sticker with a bar-code (to identify brand, batch number, etc.). So the guy who vaccinated me this morning, actually gave me the shot, then scanned the bar code to print the info and give me the little piece of paper for my vaccination booklet. That's when I heard a "Ooohhh" not a "OH shit!", just "Ooohhh". He said it calmly and told me he needed to check something so he got up and went to talk to someone at a desk further down the alley. He came back 2 minutes later, sat down and looked me dead in the eyes and calmly told me "I'm sorry sir, there was a mistake, actually mine, but we gave you the children vaccine (dose)". I'm neither afraid of vaccines nor needles so I laugh a bit, not nervously but because I found the mistake a bit funny and amateurish so to speak. That didn't worry me so I asked him what's the plan now. He told me he would verify if they could give me an "adjusted" dose, because ( the numbers are right but don't ask me the units, I don't remember them so I'll give some just to be understandable) the children doses have 10mg for 20ml while adults have 20mg for 30ml. Basically he wanted to ask if they could make a dose that would give me the part that I "miss". So he made phone calls, went to talk to a few people and about 10 minutes later, I got to see the supervisor of the whole vaccination center come in with a folder that was 1.5" thick, she kinda slapped it on the desk and the first thing she said was "gonna have to file some paperwork" ("no hi", or "my name is", "don't worry" just straight to the point). When the vaccinator asked about injecting me with a second those today, she pulled an 11x14" sheet that had a big diagram or all the possible scenarios and highlighted one. "Must wait at least 21 days". Since both the vaccinator and me went "wooow" she turned to me to say that it's coming from the top, it's the public health department that has issued those procedures and she has to follow them. Basically, the shot that I receive would count as a shot given but since it was from a lower concentration than what I should have received, it would not count/be considered effective.
The minimum amount of time I have to wait before receiving another shot is 21 days. After talking a bit, she took my info and said she would fill the paperwork, asked me if I could get an appointment by myself (from home) or if I wanted her to find me one and i replied that I would prefer if they could give me one right here. So I went to another table, then the supervisor left me and the guy didn't want to give me an appointment since his understanding was that I got my 3rd shot. I had to explain the situation to him twice and finally agreed to find me a spot. I'm going back on january 13 but I still receive an updated QR code and vaccination proof which shows the 3rd dose but somehow nothing is added or said about that dose being "void". So Jep Gambardella, ask your vaccinator to check twice or to scan the syringe before he/she/whatever-they-want-to-be-called gives you the shot!

Oh man, that's terrible. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, that's for sure.
It will probably be 2022 by the time I am eligible to book an appointment for my booster shot. I am not sure when the appointment is actually going to be.

Heated discussion between two co-workers today about the new restrictions that the government is imposing to try to curb the huge increase in the number of cases due to Omicron. One of them thinks it's going too far and what about the economy and look at the USA where they are not closing down anything, whereas the other thinks the restrictions don't go far enough and if anything should have been implemented sooner.
I tend to agree with the former. We can't have another lockdown. I don't think the numbers, bad as they may be, warrant that.
Maybe I am just pissed off that I didn't get a chance to watch Spider-Man before the movie theatres were closed...
